Xavier Musketeers vs. Marquette Golden Eagles College Basketball prediction, preview
Xavier enters Wednesday on a two-game losing streak, falling at home to UConn and then on the road to DePaul. It’s been a season of plenty of ups and downs for the Musketeers, who are 3-2 ATS as away from home this season, with a pair of victories. Xavier has also been a decent wager as an underdog this season at 4-3 ATS, with three outright wins.
Richard Pitino has also taken some bad losses in his first season at the helm, but this play is almost completely a fade of Marquette. While Xavier has put it together at times, the Golden Eagles have been a mess all season. After losing almost all of the key pieces from the contending teams of the past two seasons, Marquette is just 5-10 this season and 4-11 ATS.
All of those wins for the Golden Eagles have come at home, where they are 5-4, but just 2-7 ATS. Marquette comes into Wednesday riding a six-game losing streak, and while you’d expect it to wake up at some point, there have been plenty of chances along the way that haven’t been capitalized on. Marquette’s only cover during the losing streak came in its last game against UConn, losing by 16 as a 17-point dog.
The offense has been abysmal at times for this Marquette team, which is also just 2-7 ATS this season as the favorite. While I’m not wild about the Musketeers this season, I’ll fade the Golden Eagles as a favorite at almost any chance we get. Take Xavier with the points, and there’s easily potential for the outright upset in this one.
