Deandre Ayton Double-Double, Yes (+143): We’re grabbing value here. Ayton is coming off an 18-point, 11-rebound double-double against the Pelicans on Tuesday, his 13th of the season. He now draws a Spurs team that ranks ninth in defensive rating (112.4) but has allowed an egregious 61.0 rebounds per game to opponents over their last three contests — the worst mark in the league. On top of that, Ayton has logged eight or more rebounds in all 16 career appearances against San Antonio, and he’s dipped below 10 points just once in his last 10 games. If Ayton controls the glass, a double-double should be very attainable for the 27-year-old.
Kawhi Leonard 30+ Points (+117): The San Diego State alum was on an absolute heater before running into Boston, averaging 39 PPG over a six-game stretch that included three 40+-point performances and a 55-point explosion. Then Jaylen Brown — the self-proclaimed “best two-way player in the league” — held the Klaw to 6-of-17 shooting and 22 points. Leonard followed that up by missing all eight of his three-point attempts against the Warriors, which makes tonight feel like a textbook bounce-back spot. He draws the New York Knicks, who rank eighth on the season in opponent field goals allowed (41.0 per game) but have slipped recently, giving up 46.0 made field goals per game over their last three — the second-worst mark in the league. Kawhi is always a serious scoring threat, and with a get-right game on deck, I like him to clear 30+ points.
Scottie Barnes Double-Double, Yes (+102): Barnes hasn’t been able to get it going from beyond the arc lately, knocking down just 30% of his threes over his last five games, but he’s still managed to record a double-double in three of those five. Over that stretch, the 24-year-old is averaging 13 rebounds per game, a number boosted by his 25-board performance in an overtime win over Golden State on December 28. Even so, Barnes has double-double upside on any given night, with season averages of 19.1 points and 8.6 rebounds. He also draws a softer matchup against the 13–23 Hornets, who rank 25th in defensive rating (117.3). I like the value on Scottie tonight, and so does the public.
