The Upset Comes Through!
The Mavericks-Kings game went down to the wire, giving Anthony Davis a solid chance at producing a winning line. But it was not meant to be. That means Trey Murphy III is our unlikely champion! Big congrats to the Murphy backers, who will go home with a tidy $1,300 bonus bet. Here’s a look at our final top five:
Murphy Upset Looms
It’s a great night for Anthony Davis. AD has posted 32 P/R/A, and is having a productive night by any measure. But with one quarter to play, taking over the top spot on our leaderboard would be a tough task.
All signs point to a Trey Murphy III victory. Does AD have something special left in the tank?
AD Takeover?
It’s halftime in Sacramento, and Anthony Davis is squarely on pace with Trey Murphy III. He’s already put up a double-double in the first half, recording 13 points and 10 rebounds to go with two assists. The Mavericks offense as a whole is struggling, but not Davis.
His production has separated from the rest of the stars in this game. Cooper Flagg, Russell Westbrook and Zach LaVine are all tied with 15 P/R/A. So, for now, Davis is the only real challenger to Murphy at the top. Can he put together a great second half and take the crown? Or will Murphy pull off the upset win?
Good Start in Sacramento
Anthony Davis, one of the best hopes for unseating Murphy, is off to the races in Sacramento. He put up six points, four rebounds and an assist in the first quarter for a total of 11 P/R/A. He’s tied with his opponent, Zach LaVine, who has nine points and two assists. Russell Westbrook and Daniel Gafford put up nine P/R/A apiece in the first, giving us some strong early candidates. Cooper Flagg has fallen a bit short, putting up four assists and a rebound but going scoreless.
There’s plenty of game left, and the score should be high here. Let’s see what the second quarter has in store for us.
One to Go
We’ve got one more game on our Tuesday slate. Anthony Davis is the projected leader, with his line at 41.5 P/R/A. His young teammate Cooper Flagg follows him with 33.5, while Kings teammates Zach LaVine and Russell Westbrook are tied for third at 27.5 Let’s see if any of these guys have the goods to overthrow Trey Murphy III and take the crown.
Whirlwind Finish
Sorry, LeBron backers. Trey Murphy III stormed back into the picture, scoring a whopping 42 points along with five rebounds and three assists for a tidy 50 P/R/A, giving him a four-point lead over the field.
Talk about a massive upset. A Murphy victory would net a $1.3K bonus bet. All other games in that window have concluded, leaving us with one more game between the Mavericks and Kings. Who can push for the title in that game? Anthony Davis? Cooper Flagg? Another mystery player? Only one way to find out: stay tuned.
A Crown For the King?
It feels weird to say that LeBron James winning a P/R/A contest would be an upset. But here we are. The King has 42 P/R/A midway through the fourth, overtaking Trey Murphy III in a head-to-head battle while creating distance between himself and his teammate, Luka Doncic. A LeBron victory would net a cool $1.1K bonus bet for his backers.
We’ve got a lot of basketball left. It’s time to lock in for the stretch run.
A Challenger Emerges
CJ McCollum’s lead did not last very long. His former teammate, Trey Murphy III, has overtaken the top spot on the leaderboard. He got scorching hot in the third quarter, and has 39 P/R/A as the fourth quarter gets underway. But he has Luka Doncic and LeBron James on his heels, while Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama get hot in their respective games.
We’ve got a wild finish to the second window of the night coming up. Don’t go anywhere.
Cavs Storm to the Finish, but Wizards Usurp
A few of the Cavs put up excellent fourth quarters. Darius Garland led the way with 35 P/R/A and briefly took the lead on the board. His big men, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, were just behind. But CJ McCollum caught fire in the clutch once again, powering his team to an upset victory over the Orlando Magic.
McCollum takes the lead by one after our early window concludes. Looking at our second window, Luka Doncic and LeBron James are tied with 28 P/R/A midway through the third quarter against the Pelicans. Julian Champagnie is on another heater and has tied LA’s two stars. It could end up being a wacky night.
Big Man Battle
It’s neck-and-neck between our two bigs for the top spot. Evan Mobley put together a big third quarter and has overtaken Alex Sarr at the top of the board, posting 20/6/4 as the fourth quarter gets underway. He’s absolutely taking Pacers center Jay Huff to the cleaners offensively. Sarr is only one P/R/A behind, and his game is a bit behind, so he has a slight edge in terms of pace.
Elsewhere, Luka Doncic has stalled out somewhat, with 21 P/R/A as halftime approaches. The field is crowded; let’s see if it can thin out a bit.
Luka Time Begins
The odds-on favorite to win tonight’s contest, Luka Doncic is no stranger to being King of the Court. He’s off to a great start in his game against the Pelicans, piling up 15 P/R/A in style in the first quarter.
He’s got some catching up to do, as Alex Sarr continues to build in his lead. But it’s a promising start.
Sarr In Charge
It’s halftime in our early slate games and Alex Sarr has stormed back to take the lead. The young Wizard has 16 points, six rebounds and an assist; his 23 P/R/A clears the field by three.
But look out … our 8 p.m. ET slate is tipping off. That means Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Anthony Edwards and Victor Wembanyama are in action. A whole lot of talent is here to set the tone for Tuesday’s slate.
Mobley Magic
We’ve got a crowded top of the field, and Evan Mobley is joining the fray. The reigning DPOY has nine points in the early going along with three rebounds and an assist. He’s getting to show his scoring touch against the rival Indiana Pacers.
There’s a lot of ball left to play, but against this Pacers defense, who knows?
Hot Sarrce
Our early slate has begun, and we have some leaders. Paolo Banchero, one of the projected leaders, is off to a great start. But it’s Alex Sarr taking command, scoring nine points in the first quarter to go with two rebounds and an assist.
The early window always produces potential upset players. Is Sarr our latest threat?
