Anthony Edwards ($9,500) has been downgraded to questionable for Tuesday’s matchup between the Timberwolves and the Heat due to right foot injury maintenance reasons.
Edwards has played in nine straight games and being downgraded to questionable hours before tip-off is never an encouraging sign, so the guard sitting tonight wouldn’t be a surprise.
This season, Edwards is averaging 29.4 PPG while shooting 51% from the field, both of which are career-highs. The 24-year-old is handling a 31.4% usage rate and logging 34.9 minutes per game this season, so there will be plenty of work up for grabs if Edwards is out Tuesday.
Bones Hyland ($3,500) started in each of the last three games Edwards has missed and he scored at least 25 FPTS in two of those contests. Hyland is the top candidate to start in place of Edwards again tonight and if that is the case, Hyland will be a terrific punt play for DFS. Also, Julius Randle ($8,200) and Donte DiVincenzo ($6,000) will both see increased usage rates if Edwards is missing and will be strong targets.
Minnesota is a solid 4-3 with Edwards inactive this season and it is a 5.5-point favorite over the Heat tonight on DraftKings Sportsbook, but this line was the Timberwolves -7.5 just a few hours ago, so this line is moving in the Heat’s favor in the wake of Edwards being downgraded.
