Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy left the matchup against the Packers and is questionable to return with a right hand injury. McCarthy did not seemingly suffer the injury on the play before leaving, but signaled to the sideline to sub himself out after completing a screen pass.
It is worth noting that McCarthy missed the previous game with an injury to the same hand. He completed 14 of his 23 pass attempts for 182 yards prior to leaving. Backup Max Brosmer has replaced the 22-year-old in the matchup.
This will likely put an end to an interesting first season on the field for the Michigan product. Availability is becoming a concern and McCarthy has not 100% made it clear that he is the franchise guy with his play on the field. The Vikings drafted the quarterback with the 10th overall pick in the 2024 draft, and he missed the entirety of his rookie season with a torn meniscus. He has been available for 10 of the possible 17 games this season, dealing with a concussion and ankle sprain in addition to the hand issue.
