The Detroit Lions dismantled the Chicago Bears in a 52-21 home victory in Week 2. Since then, much has changed; the Bears stormed to an 11-5 record, while the Lions sputtered to an 8-8 record and won’t play in the playoffs. Chicago head coach Ben Johnson will have the last laugh over his former team and can stamp his playoff position with a home win. Though only one team has playoff implications in this game, it will be fierce, and it comes with a robust player prop market.
Chicago is a three-point favorite and -162 on the moneyline, while Detroit is +136 on DraftKings Sportsbook. The game total is set at 50.5 points. Let’s dig into the player props for this Lions-Bears matchup.
Lions vs. Bears Best Prop Bets
Jahmyr Gibbs 2+ TDs (+310)
Even with Detroit’s season being over, it’s not going to roll over in this game. Dan Campbell will relish the chance to play spoiler against a rival and show his former offensive coordinator what’s what. Unless the game is well out of hand, Detroit’s starters will be in there, and that means a whole lot of Jahmyr Gibbs.
Chicago’s run defense has been its weak spot. It ranks 29th in the league in yards per carry allowed, giving up an even five yards per tote. Breakaway runs have come often, and Gibbs can break multiple big gains. Detroit will spend a lot of time in the red zone, where he gets plenty of work. One of the most prolific touchdown scorers in the NFL, Gibbs will end his season on a high note.
Caleb Williams 2+ TD Passes (-136)
Plenty is on the line for the Bears in this one. They have the same record as the Eagles, but own the tiebreaker. A Chicago win or Philly loss locks the Bears into the No. 2 seed and a home date with the No. 7 seed Green Bay Packers. If Chicago loses its grip on the second seed and falls to third, it gets a date with either the Los Angeles Rams or the San Francisco 49ers. Those aren’t teams you want to face. Suffice to say, the stakes are high in this seeding battle.
Caleb Williams will be playing at 110% in this one. That extra bit of motivation that humiliating a rival would bring makes me think Ben Johnson is pulling out all the passing tricks in this one. Detroit’s secondary has sustained a lot of losses since these two teams last played; Williams will put a bow on a great season.
