Another year, another disastrous campaign for the Giants. With just three wins going into the last week of the regular season, New York will miss the postseason for the third straight season. Brian Daboll was fired in November, leaving Big Blue in search of a new head coach. Now, with one week left in the regular season, expect interviews and meetings to ramp up.

Giants next head coach odds
Among the group with shorter than +1000 odds, a few names stand out. Chris Shula (+500) is the current favorite, and it’s easy to see why. The grandson of NFL legend Don, the 39-year-old has done a stellar job as defensive coordinator with the Rams. Mike McCarthy (+800) is also sure to garner some consideration from New York’s front office. After all, the former Super Bowl champion has a proven resume. However, it’s fair to wonder how much of his success comes from under center. Winning is much easier with Pro Bowlers such as Aaron Rodgers and Dak Prescott throwing the ball. Still, the veteran coach could help Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart gain some consistency in Year 2.
Defensive coordinators make up a large portion of this list. Indianapolis’ Lou Anarumo (+850), a Staten Island native, could impress during interviews. In addition, Green Bay’s Jeff Hafley (+950) and Chargers DC Jesse Minter (+1100) will be in high demand this month.
During previous coaching searches, the Giants have prioritized familiarity with the organization. Therefore, don’t be shocked if former linebacker and Super Bowl champion Antonio Pierce (+1200) demands a closer look. His last coaching opportunity came with the Raiders in 2024. Speaking of old friends, Steve Spagnuolo (+2200) makes sense as well. Kansas City’s defensive coordinator has terrific job security with one of the NFL’s model franchises. Still, a return to East Rutherford would be difficult to turn down.
Some other names worth mentioning include:
- Mike Tomlin (+2000) would be an exciting, albeit unlikely, hire for the Giants. However, a Steelers loss on Sunday vs. Baltimore would cast doubts over his future in Pittsburgh. If the championship-winning coach is let go, New York should ask for an immediate interview.
- Another AFC North name, Kevin Stefanski (+2000), also demands a closer look. A miserable season could end the two-time Coach of the Year’s tenure in Cleveland.
- Jon Gruden (+2000) will be a popular name amongst fans, and for good reason. The former Super Bowl winner has spent the past few years as a member of the media. In addition, he has an extensive track record working with quarterbacks. However, it’s uncertain whether the Giants would take such a big swing with their next head coach.
