One last day remains on the 2025 calendar, so why not make it a profitable one? Tonight’s five-game featured NBA slate offers several must-watch matchups before the ball drops. However, there’s also plenty of potential pitfalls for fantasy basketball managers.
Which lesser known names can help you cash in on New Year’s Eve? Here are two under the radar picks for your lineups this evening in DFS and season-long formats.

SG/SF Kevin Huerter, Chicago Bulls vs. NOP ($4,300)
As always, the Bulls are the NBA’s ultimate ‘meh’ squad. Not much on this roster moves the needle, especially with Josh Giddey (hamstring) sidelined. However, the guard’s absence does create more minutes for some of Chicago’s role players. In addition, fellow guard Coby White (calf) has been ruled out of tonight’s contest as well. Kevin Huerter isn’t exactly a ball handler, but the veteran should get a usage bump for this depleted backcourt. This season, Red Velvet is averaging 11.7 points, 3.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game (22.6 FPTS).
Huerter’s biggest claim to fame is his shooting. However, the guard has knocked down a lackluster 32% of his three-point attempts this season. Wednesday’s matchup could be an ideal spot to get back on track. New Orleans has coughed up the most fantasy points to opposing shooting guards. In addition, the Pelicans are surrendering 14.9 three-pointers made per game, second-most in basketball. Chicago’s sharpshooter has an opportunity to deliver one of his best outings of the year tonight.
PG/SG Tre Johnson, Washington Wizards at MIL ($4,200)
Speaking of uninspiring clubs, the Wizards are on track for another dismal season. With that being said, there are a few bright spots in DC. First-round pick Tre Johnson is far from a finished product, but he’s progressing into a legitimate playmaker. Over the rookie’s last five games, he’s posted 16.2 points, 2.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists. That includes a 24-point showing on Monday against the Suns. Most important, the youngster’s minutes have risen during that stretch.
For a Washington club with absolutely nothing to lose, there’s no reason to think Johnson’s usage will decrease. In fact, the 19-year-old is in line for another impressive performance tonight. Even with Giannis Antetokounmpo ($10,900) back, the Bucks are a mess on defense. That’s especially true on the perimeter, where their guards offer little resistance. Milwaukee has allowed the NBA’s fourth-most fantasy points to opposing point guards. In a game that has real shootout potential, Johnson offers nice value on Wednesday at just $4,200.
