Clemson Tigers vs. Syracuse Orange College Basketball prediction, preview

Clemson travels up to the dome for an afternoon road game at Syracuse on New Year’s eve, and the Tigers should have their hands full. While Clemson is off to an impressive 10-3 start, the road struggles have been a thing. The Tigers have lost both true road games, covering at Alabama as an underdog, but losing as a favorite at Georgetown.

The Orange are a better team than the Hoyas, and ‘Cuse should be a much more difficult atmosphere for Clemson to play in. Syracuse has plenty of tests against quality competition, playing Houston, Kansas and Iowa State in Las Vegas. While they lost all three, ‘Cuse was competitive against Houston and Kansas, taking the Cougars to overtime.

The Orange returned home from that trip to upset Tennessee and get the outright win over the Vols as 7.5-point underdogs. While this team can have a low floor (see loss to Hofstra), it has also shown the ability to get up for big games. I think home court matters here, and we see Syracuse earn another gritty home victory.

From a market perspective, the betting splits are very sharp to Syracuse. The Orange opened as a short underdog on Tuesday, and have been bet to a slight favorite. I’ll follow the money.

CBB Pick: Syracuse ML (-115)
