It’s do-or-die time for the 7-8 Ravens. That means winning out over their next two games, including a trip to Lambeau Field. In this must-win matchup with the Packers, Baltimore will likely be without quarterback Lamar Jackson. As a result, running back Derrick Henry will be the focal point of this offense. Can the future Hall-of-Famer carry his club to a much-needed victory?

As previously mentioned, it’s not looking good for Lamar Jackson. A back injury has hampered the former MVP, leading to a doubtful injury designation. At this point, it’s safe to assume quarterback Tyler Huntley will get the start. The backup performed admirably last week, throwing for 60 yards and a 90% completion percentage vs. New England. Still, Baltimore’s offense is unquestionably worse without LJ.
What kept the Ravens afloat without Jackson was the dominance of Henry. The bruising running back rumbled for 128 yards and two touchdowns against the Patriots. In a controversial decision, the Pro Bowler didn’t take the field for Baltimore’s first drive of the fourth quarter. That proved to have a major impact on the team’s eventual defeat.
Following last Sunday’s debacle, head coach John Harbaugh should be wary of making the same mistake again. In a must-win scenario, Henry is in line for one of his largest workloads of the year. It’s been another solid campaign for the veteran. Over 15 games, he’s gained 1,253 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Considering Jackson has missed several of those contests, Henry’s stats aren’t too shabby.
Green Bay wields one of the better defenses in all of football. However, the club was dealt a major blow when Micah Parsons suffered a season-ending ACL tear. This season, the Packers have surrendered the fifth-fewest yards per rush attempt to opponents. Still, it’s difficult to view that number without thinking of Parsons’ absence.
Henry has gained 70+ rushing yards in nine of his 15 appearances so far. In addition, he reached that total in two of three outings without Jackson playing. One of those performances came against a terrific Rams run defense, as well. It may not be pretty, but King Henry appears poised for at least 20 touches. That’s enough volume for bettors to put their trust in the superstar on Saturday.
