After a Christmas Day spectacular, the NBA has nine games on tap for Friday night as the league continues rolling through the holidays with some great matchups. In one of the most exciting early games, the Miami Heat visit the Atlanta Hawks in an Eastern Conference matchup between two teams with similar records. It should be a close, hard-fought contest, so let’s jump into the matchup and grab some of my top player prop bets from this matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook.
In the overall game, the Hawks are 2.5-point home favorites, with the game total set at an elevated O/U 247.5 points. This will be the first of four meetings between these teams this season. The Heat have been spiraling lately and have dropped to 15-15 by losing eight of their last nine games after being at 14-7 with a win on Dec. 1. The Hawks have also dropped four straight and are 15-16, one spot behind the Heat in the Eastern Conference at No. 9, while the Hawks currently hold the No. 8 spot.

Jalen Johnson over 18.5 Rebounds + Assists (-108)
Even with Trae Young back to help carry the scoring load, the Hawks have still been relying heavily on Johnson, who has been exceptional this season, averaging 23.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 8.2 assists and 35 minutes per game. With Young getting healthy and taking on more scoring, Johnson’s rebounds and assists should be a little more reliable than his points moving forward, including in this matchup against Miami.
In his 11 home games, Johnson has averaged 9.7 rebounds and 9.3 assists for 19 Rebounds + Assists. He has gone over this prop line in 10 of his last 11 games and in 13 of his last 15. On Sunday, he had 20 rebounds plus assists against the Bulls and followed that up with 19 rebounds plus assists in the rematch on Tuesday. The Hawks dropped both those games in close, hard-fought contests with Johnson doing plenty of playmaking and glass cleaning.
Even if his scoring starts to dip a bit, his non-scoring contributions should stay strong, and since the Heat will likely be without Bam Adebayo, it could be an even easier matchup for Johnson in what should be an up-tempo game environment.
Davion Mitchell over 9.5 points (-131)
With Tyler Herro (toe) missing a sixth straight game, Mitchell should continue to be more involved in the offense for the Heat. He has played over 27 minutes in 12 straight games and is averaging 30.3 minutes in his 28 games (all starts) this season. He’s averaging 9.8 points per game on the year, but in his games without Herro, his usage increases by almost a full percentage point to 14.9%, and he has scored 10.23 points per game in that situation
On Tuesday, Mitchell had a rough game against his former team, the Raptors. He finished with just three points while shooting 1-for-6 from the field. Before that, though, he had scored at least 10 points in five straight games. Especially without Herro in this matchup against the Hawks, he should be set to score at least 10 points again.
Zaccharie Risacher over 14.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-116)
The No. 1 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft is still getting plenty of playing time on the wing for the Hawks, and he continues to contribute across the board even though his numbers haven’t been spectacular. This year, he’s playing 24.5 minutes per game and producing 11.1 points, 30 rebounds and 1.6 assists for 15.8 PRA (points, rebounds and assists) per contest.
Over his last seven games, Risacher has gone over this PRA prop line six times. He’s also produced at least 15 PRA in 14 of his last 20 games (70%), and in a high-scoring game on Friday night, he has a good shot at going over this number again.
