The NBA has nine games on Friday night’s schedule, and in the second game of Prime Video’s doubleheader, the Los Angeles Clippers head to the City of Roses to take on the Portland Trail Blazers. The Western Conference matchup should be a nice way to finish out the night, so let’s take a look at a few of my top player prop bets from this matchup on DraftKings Sportsbook.
In the bigger picture, the Blazers are 2.5-point home underdogs, with the game total set at a below-average 227.5. This is the second of the four meetings between these teams this season, and the Clippers won the first meeting, 114-107. The Trail Blazers lost back-to-back games to start the week at home against the Pistons and Magic. The Clippers, on the other hand, have won each of their last two games, beating the Lakers by 15 on Saturday and the Rockets by 20 on Tuesday. The two wins have moved them up to 8-21 on the season, while the Trail Blazers are still ahead of them on 12-18 and currently in the No. 10 spot in the Western Conference, which would be the last in the Play-In Tournament.
Each time has navigated multiple injuries so far this season and will remain without some key contributors. Looking at the available players, let’s dig up the top player prop bets for this Western Conference matchup.
Clippers vs. Trail Blazers Best Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Kawhi Leonard over 38.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-107)
He had 41 points, eight rebounds and five assists for 54 PRA (points, rebounds and assists) against the Rockets on Tuesday. He was coming off 32 points, 12 boards and three assists for 47 PRA against the Lakers last Saturday. He’s taken on more work on the glass with Ivica Zubac (ankle) out, and he should keep extremely involved while Zubac is out for at least the next three weeks.
Over his last 11 games, he is averaging 28 points, seven rebounds, and three assists for 38 PRA, and he has scored at least 20 points in 11 straight games. Kawhi had 30 points, 10 rebounds and four assists for 44 in his first matchup against the Trail Blazers, and with so much momentum, he should be ready to go for another big game on Friday night.
Donovan Clingan Over 21.5 Points + Rebounds (-126)
With Zubac out, it should be a good matchup for Clingan, who is averaging 10.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game in his second season in the NBA. He missed three games with a lower leg contusion and returned five games ago.
After a one-game ramp-up, he has gone over this prop line in four straight games, while averaging 14.5 points, 11.5 rebounds and 33.3 minutes per game. Besides the game that he left early with the injury and the game he returned, he has gone over this prop line in nine of the last 12 games, and against the thinned-out Clippers’ front court, the second-year big man from UConn.
Brook Lopez Over 4.5 Rebounds (-102)
Lopez is one of the players who will get most of the work while Zubac is out. He started against the Rockets and logged 27 minutes. He only went 1-for-5 from the field and had five points, but he was able to produce six rebounds. In the game that Zubac left early, BroLo played 25 minutes and had five rebounds as well. He even had five rebounds last Thursday against the Thunder, even though he only played 15 minutes.
With more minutes, Lopez should be able to grab at least five boards, whether he picks up more work in the offense or not. He hadn’t played 20 minutes in any game until last week, so his increased workload is new enough to still be a good value at this prop line.
Bonus Parlay Pick: James Harden under 5.5 rebounds (-149)
If you’re looking to use these props to create a Same Game Parlay (SPG) or an SPGx, one other leg you can add to the mix is the under on Harden’s rebounds. The four legs combine to be a +900 SGP as you can see below.
Harden is averaging 5.1 rebounds per game this season, but with Kawhi getting more work on the glass, Harden has been getting fewer rebounds. He has under six boards in eight straight games with four or fewer rebounds in seven of those eight contests. He had six rebounds in the first matchup between these teams, but I think he’ll get fewer than that in this rematch.
