NFL Pick ‘Em Pools

Week 17 Picks
Broncos -13.5 @ Chiefs — The Broncos have a chance to dominate the Chiefs on Christmas night. Bo Nix and the Broncos finally broke through and are in a prime position to win the AFC West. Patrick Mahomes and Gardner Minshew are both out for the season, so Chris Oladokun will be making his first career NFL start. The Broncos’ defense is a scary unit to face when it is your first NFL start. The Chiefs also don’t have any sort of run game to provide balance to the offense. The Denver defense should dominate and shut down the Kansas City offense. In a somewhat similar situation last season, the Broncos eviscerated the Chiefs 38-0 with Patrick Mahomes resting for the playoffs. A highly motivated Denver team should thrash this broken Chiefs team.
Texans +2.5 @ Chargers — The Texans and Chargers are very similarly built teams, but Houston is better at almost every position. Both of these teams have elite defenses, but the Texans have the best defense in the NFL. Houston leads the NFL in defensive EPA/play, while the Chargers rank fifth. Houston’s offense has been inconsistent this season, but it has been better as of late. Since Week 10, they rank 14th in the NFL in offensive EPA/play, while the Chargers rank 25th in offensive EPA/play during that stretch. The Texans are the better team on both sides of the ball, and these teams are equally motivated to win this game. The Texans should keep their seven-game win streak going and make it eight straight with a win over the Chargers.
Browns +3.5 vs. Steelers — The Browns have a chance to play spoiler against their division rivals this week. The Steelers have a chance to clinch the AFC North this week with a win over Cleveland. The Browns’ defense, when at home, is one of the best in the NFL. Cleveland is allowing just 19.6 points per game at home this season. While the Steelers have been playing well as of late, they don’t have a very explosive offense. Myles Garrett should get pressure on Aaron Rodgers and take advantage of his lack of mobility. The Steelers rank 21st in the NFL in defensive EPA/play, and despite losing Quinshon Judkins, the Browns should be able to move the ball reasonably well. The Browns have won five of their past six home games against the Steelers. They should be able to keep that strong run going and make this a tight, low-scoring game.
Saints -2.5 @ Titans — The Saints are playing really well over the past few weeks. Tyler Shough is starting to play quarterback at a solid level, and the offense is looking competent. Meanwhile, the Saints’ defense has also been tough, making it so Shough doesn’t need to be overly aggressive. The Titans picked up a nice win over the Chiefs last week, but this team has struggled all season. The Titans have three wins this season, and one was gifted to them by the Cardinals, one came against the Browns and then last week against the Chiefs when they were forced to go to their third-string quarterback. The Saints should keep their winning streak going and get the win over the Titans.
Patriots -13.5 @ Jets — The Patriots should handily take down the Jets in this game. When these teams first faced off this season, the Patriots won the game by 13 points. That win came against a much more solid Jets team that was playing Justin Fields at quarterback, rather than Brady Cook. The Jets’ offense has looked poor with Cook at the helm, and the defense has continued to decline since trading away Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams. Drake Maye should be able to hit deep shots against the Jets’ defense and score plenty of points. Meanwhile, the Jets’ offense has no real chance against the Patriots’ defense. New England can clinch the AFC East with a win and a Bills loss to the Eagles this week. They will be highly motivated to get the win and should do so handily.
