Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy suffered a hand injury and been ruled out for the remainder of the matchup with the Giants. McCarthy picked up the injury on a sack that resulted in a scoop-and-score for the Giants shortly before halftime.
McCarthy got the hand issue looked at on the sideline and was in some visible pain. He left for halftime a few minutes early for further evaluation from the training staff.
As halftime winded down, the Vikings announced that their quarterback will not return for this matchup.
Prior to the injury, McCarthy had completed nine of his 14 pass attempts for 108 yards, and interception, and a fumble. He also added two rushing attempts for 20 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Max Brosmer will take over at quarterback for the Vikings. Brosmer has taken snaps in four games this season and made one start for Minnesota already this year.
