The College Football Playoffs are off to the races with the opening round games in full swing.
The Miami Hurricanes defeated the Texas A&M Aggies, 10-3, in their opening matchup on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, they’ll advance to the quarterfinal and face Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
Odds for the matchup are now live on DraftKings Sportsbook, with Ohio State opening as a 9.5-point favorite. Miami holds +285 odds of producing the outright upset, and the game total is set at 42.5.
Ohio State vs. Miami College Football Playoff Odds
The Ohio State Buckeyes entered the College Football Playoffs as the second seed and sat out the opening round with a bye. They went 12-1 in the regular season, with their lone loss coming against top-seeded Indiana in the Big Ten championship. The Buckeyes are looking to defend last year’s national title and become the 15th program to claim consecutive titles since the AP started naming them in 1936.
Miami last won a national championship in 2001 and still has a way to go to reach these heights. The victory over Texas A&M marked the first time since the College Football Playoff took shape that a game went scoreless into halftime. Miami generated just 278 yards of total offense and will have a difficult challenge against this Ohio State defense.
The winner of this matchup will take on the winner of Georgia vs. likely Ole Miss in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl semifinal matchup.
Ohio State and Miami will square off on December 31st at 7:30 p.m. ET.
