Creighton Blue Jays vs. Marquette Golden Eagles prediction, pick for NCAAM on Saturday 12/20/25

Marquette limps into Omaha at 5-7, already chasing oxygen in the Big East race. Creighton sits 6-5, steadier at home, and it gets this one in a building that expects clean offense. The spread has tightened to Creighton -6.5, which is the market admitting the game should stay lively. The total is 152.5, so this is priced as a scoring game, not a rock fight. The stakes are simple: survive December, bank a league win, and stop the skid before it becomes identity. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Creighton Blue Jays and the Marquette Golden Eagles.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Creighton vs. Marquette prediction, preview

Josh Dix (guard) is Creighton’s steady hand at 12.0 points per game with a 32-to-12 assist-to-turnover line, and Owen Freeman (center) finishes possessions at 67.2% from the floor with 8.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. Chase Ross (guard) is Marquette’s engine at 17.4 points per game, and Nigel James Jr. (guard) sits at 11.3 points with 45 assists against 22 turnovers. Creighton’s edge is shot quality, and the numbers draw it in ink. Creighton sits at 54.1% eFG with 57.0% on twos, and Marquette’s defense has allowed a 51.7% eFG. Marquette’s offense has been the issue, living at 48.2% eFG with only 30.5% from three, which makes every empty possession feel heavier. Creighton also plays the math right at home with real three volume, taking 29.8 threes per game and hitting 10.2. Marquette wants pace, and it gets it, because Marquette plays 73.8 possessions per game and Creighton sits at 71.0. That tempo supports scoring, but it also exposes Marquette’s loose defensive stretches.

The Marquette cover case is disruption plus extra possessions, and it’s real enough to respect. Marquette generates 9.4 steals per game and forces 14.8 turnovers, and Creighton has shown a scary split in ball security. In wins, Creighton’s assist-to-turnover ratio is 2.08, but it drops to 0.93 in losses, which is exactly how underdogs land punches. Marquette also crashes, grabbing 11.7 offensive rebounds per game, and Creighton allows 10.8. If Marquette can turn misses into second shots, it can keep the scoreboard from running away, even with the shooting issues.

Marquette vs. Creighton pick, best bet

I still land on Creighton -6.5 because the whistle and the shot diet both point the same direction. Creighton commits only 13.5 fouls per game and allows 12.9 free throws, which keeps opponents from living at the stripe. That matters against a Marquette team that already needs free points to offset the 30.5% three-ball. Creighton’s defense also holds opponents to a 48.3% eFG, and Marquette’s offense has not shown the consistency to solve that for forty minutes. With the total at 152.5, the spread is less brittle than it would be in a 140 game, and Creighton’s cleaner scoring profile should create separation late.

Creighton should lean into spacing and quick decisions because Marquette’s pressure wants to speed up reads. Creighton should keep the ball moving through Josh Dix (guard) and let Owen Freeman (center) finish clean looks, because Marquette’s rotations over-help when the paint gets touched. Marquette should hunt chaos with Chase Ross (guard) as the creator and crash the glass hard, because second shots are the fastest path back into the game. Creighton should also stay disciplined and refuse fouls, because that’s how Marquette turns a bad shooting night into a cover.

I’m laying the points anyway. Creighton 82, Marquette 74.

Best bet: Creighton -6.5 (-115) vs. Marquette
