Seattle Redhawks vs. Washington Huskies prediction, pick for NCAAM on Friday 12/19/25

Washington walks into Climate Pledge with the shiny-name tax, but this is not some sleepy buy-game. Seattle U is 9-2, sitting atop the WCC, and they’ve been playing with real edge in their own city. This is a late-night Seattle stage where the underdog gets to throw punches without the early-tip nerves. Washington is 7-3 and built like a major-conference problem, but the spot screams tight game more than blowout. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the Seattle Redhawks and the Washington Huskies.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

Seattle vs. Washington prediction, preview

The number I can’t ignore is how Seattle U manufactures volatility in exactly the ways an underdog needs. Their profile here is 58.7% effective field-goal with 40.3% from three, which means they don’t need perfect possessions to keep pace. Washington wants to win with clean execution, because they’ve been ultra-careful with a 12.4% turnover rate and they crash at 36.5% on the offensive glass. Seattle U’s counter is nasty: opponents are turning it over on 19.2% of trips against them, and they’re swatting 9.2% of shots. That’s the exact pressure point that can take Washington from “two-turnover clinic” to “empty trips that keep the door open.”

Tempo also quietly helps the dog. These teams live in similar air, with Washington at 68.4 and Seattle U at 68.6 by the tempo-free lens, so we’re not banking on a track meet where talent gaps can avalanche. Seattle U’s possessions-per-game sits at 71.4 against Washington’s 73.7, and that slight drag matters when you’re catching 7.5. On raw scoring shape, Washington can absolutely run it up, sitting at 84.7 points per game, but they also allow 73.4, which is enough space for a live dog to stay attached. Seattle U’s baseline is steadier than people think: 77.8 scored, 69.8 allowed, plus an +8.0 margin that fits a competitive script. And if Washington is missing frontcourt depth with J. Ognacevic and M. Traore out, the physical margin gets thinner in a building where Seattle U will play every rebound like it’s a statement.

Washington vs. Seattle pick, best bet

The pushback is obvious, and it’s real. Washington grades as the better overall team, with a 117.2 adjusted offense and a 101.0 adjusted defense, and they just detonated Southern Utah 105-69 with a Desmond Claude triple-double. If Washington turns this into a talent check, their offense has more ways to score than Seattle U can answer. They also rebound like a program with size, sitting at 41.6 boards per game, and they can bury you with second chances. But that’s also why I want the points. Seattle U doesn’t need to be “better” for forty minutes; they need to be disruptive enough to keep Washington from stacking clean possessions, then cash the math on the other end with efficient shooting.

So I’m taking Seattle U +7.5 because the matchup gives them multiple paths to cash, not one fragile miracle. If the threes fall anywhere near their 40.3% clip, Washington has to chase points, and that game stays in one or two possessions late. If the threes cool off, Seattle U can still win the margin in the hidden possessions with that 19.2% opponent turnover rate and rim protection that forces rushed finishes. The market is hanging Washington -7.5 with a 149.5 total, basically pricing a comfortable Huskies win in a reasonably fast game. I see something tighter, more grinding, and more chaotic in the middle possessions, because Seattle U’s defense can bend rhythm and steal extra trips.

Give me Washington 74, Seattle U 71, and I’ll take the points as my late-night Friday bet.

Best bet: Seattle +7.5 (-110) vs. Washington
