The Seahawks’ backfield of Walker ($7,200 for Showdown) and Charbonnet ($6,200) has been a headache all season and the two backs were non-factors in last week’s win over the Colts, finishing with 2.9 and 3.1 FPTS, respectively.
Since Seattle’s bye in Week 8, Walker has seen more work than Charbonett. During this seven-game stretch, Walker is logging 51% of the snaps and he is handling 49.1% of the running back carries for the Seahawks, while Charbonett is logging 40.7% of the snaps and garnering 39.8% of the carries. In the passing game, Walker is handling a 9.5% target share and a 43% route rate, whereas Charbonnet is handling a 3.7% target share and a 31% route rate.
While Walker has been utilized more than Charbonnet, Charbonnet has out carried Walker 15-13 in the redzone and during this stretch, Charbonnet has found the paydirt three times while Walker has only scored once.
Seeing Charbonnet out carry Walker in the redzone is frustrating, but its been by very little and the Seahawks clearly view Walker as their top back based on their overall usage. Charbonnet has been relying on touchdowns to stay relevant for fantasy football and while Walker is coming off two very quiet showings, you have to trust Walker and his bigger workload over Charbonnet.
Neither are great options this week vs. a Rams’ defense that is giving up the fifth-most fewest yards per rush this season (3.9), but if forced to choose, Walker is the right choice.
