Andrija Bukumirović (guard) is the cleanest scorer in the matchup at 14.7 points on 55-98 shooting with 17-39 from deep, while Matas Deniusas (forward) brings the steady two-way weight at 13.6 points and 42-55 at the line.
Tennessee State’s profile is more volatile, and that’s exactly the point. The Tigers are scoring 79.5 per game, but they’re doing it with pressure and pace more than pure shooting, because the jumper has been shaky at 26.2% from three. Their superpower is disruption: 11.2 steals per game, and they turn live-ball mistakes into instant oxygen. Aaron Nkrumah (wing) sets the tone at 16.6 points per game, Travis Harper II (guard) sits right behind him at 15.0, and Dante Harris (guard) keeps the engine moving at 12.9. Jalen Pitre (forward) is the leverage piece, because his 7.1 rebounds per game and 36 offensive boards create those demoralizing “we guarded it, and it still didn’t end” sequences. The UNLV win told you what their best version looks like: 12 steals forced, 16 second-chance points, 40 paint points, and a tight-game temperament that didn’t blink.
UT Martin vs. Tennessee State pick, best bet
So the handicap is simple, and it’s mean. UT Martin averages 16.2 turnovers per game, and Tennessee State lives to turn that into a track meet. If the Skyhawks get loose with early entries, this turns into deflections, runouts, and a home crowd that starts calling every dribble a confession. But if UT Martin survives the first wave, the geometry flips. Tennessee State’s shooting percentages say they can go cold fast, and UT Martin’s defensive numbers say they can force that kind of night without gambling themselves out of position. Tennessee State does have the recent-history angle, with a 39–32 all-time edge and last season’s sweep, but this UT Martin team is built more like a grinder than a visitor waiting to melt.
