The Nets (7–18, 13th East) have won four of their last six games, looking to build on a Sunday win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Heat (14–12, 9th East) aim to snap a brutal five-game skid, punctuated by a Monday loss to the Toronto Raptors.

The Heat have frozen over, losing five consecutive games to plummet from fourth to ninth in the Eastern Conference standings. While still ranking in the NBA’s top five in points per game, Miami has posted a miserable 29th-ranked offense during its slide. And it hasn’t helped that the team’s otherwise formidable defense has been middling at best.
Miami is leaning heavily on the sharpshooting guard tandem of Tyler Herro and Norman Powell, both of whom are averaging over 23 points per game on 40% shooting from long range. However, Herro is nursing a toe injury and has been ruled out for Thursday’s contest, leaving Powell to shoulder much of the offensive workload.
The understaffed Heat could also try to play through center Bam Adebayo, who has posted a solid 19.2 points and nine rebounds per game. Still, the absence of Herro further slows down an offense that seemingly can’t buy a bucket right now.
Brooklyn Nets Preview
There’s something magical about winter in New York City. After opening the 2025-26 season in complete freefall, the Nets have seemingly broken their fall since the calendar flipped to December. Not only has Brooklyn won four of its six games this month, but it has also played like one of the best teams in basketball.
Albeit while facing far from the league’s elite, the Nets boast the fourth-best net rating in the NBA since Dec. 1 — fueled by a top-two defense during that span. They’re fresh off a 45-point rout of the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday, matching the widest margin of victory in franchise history.
While their borderline league-worst offense has remained relatively stagnant at large, Brooklyn’s leading scorer, Michael Porter Jr., has erupted for 29.8 points with five three-pointers per game while shooting 54% from the field and 50% from deep across five games this month.
Heat vs. Nets Pick, Best Bet
Miami is bound to snap its losing streak at some point, and it wouldn’t be shocking if they got it done in Brooklyn, where many teams have claimed a free win this season. Still, the Heat’s offensive woes — especially without Herro — cannot be overstated, an issue that could be exploited by the Nets’ near league-best defense since December 1.
Riding the hot hand of Porter Jr., count on the Nets to keep things competitive and cover the 6.5-point spread on Thursday night.
