WR Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em Picks: Fantasy Football Wide Receivers to Start or Sit in Week 16

Updated:

By: Jeff Pratt

Heading into the second week of the 2025 fantasy football playoffs for most leagues, QB-WR rapports, target shares and more have been established among the league’s receiving corps. With all of that in mind, let’s break down my WR start/sit Week 16 fantasy football picks.

Check out my Week 16 running back start/sit picks here!

Start ‘Em: Jauan Jennings (San Francisco 49ers) at Indianapolis Colts

Don’t look now, but Jauan Jennings is tied for the sixth-most receiving touchdowns in the NFL. Jennings has been a scoring machine in the second half of the season, finding the end zone six times over his last six outings.

The Niners’ top receiver only caught three balls against the Titans, but that doesn’t matter when two of them are touchdowns. It was the third-straight game with at least 13 fantasy points for Jennings, who is spiking in form at the right time.

The Colts allow the third-most fantasy points per game to receivers, giving Jennings high-end WR2 value with a strong WR1 ceiling. He should remain a key part of San Francisco’s offensive attack on Monday night.

Sit ‘Em: Stefon Diggs (New England Patriots) at Baltimore Ravens

It’s time to be concerned about Stefon Diggs, both from a fantasy and real-life perspective.

After flashing vintage Diggs upside in the middle of the season, the veteran has completely disappeared down the stretch. Diggs has recorded fewer than six fantasy points in three straight outings. In all three of those contests, he wasn’t even a top-four receiver in terms of yardage for New England.

Some of that is due to the offensive system. Drake Maye spreads the wealth quite a bit, but in a few of these close contests (especially against Buffalo) you would have loved to see him target his $20 million receiver. This week, the Patriots will walk into a tough atmosphere in Baltimore on the road in primetime. Typically, those environments are where Diggs shines, but it’s impossible to have any type of confidence in him right now.

Start ‘Em: Jakobi Meyers (Jacksonville Jaguars) at Denver Broncos

Meyers’ recent TD streak finally came to a close last week, but he still managed to eclipse the double-digit fantasy point mark for a fifth straight time.

Trevor Lawrence has turned into a legitimate QB1 during the second half of the 2025 campaign, with the addition of Meyers playing a large role in his spike in form. Meyers is firmly locked in as one of Lawrence’s top two receiving options alongside Brian Thomas Jr.

The 29-year-old saw a team-high seven targets against the Jets, hauling in five of them for 71 yards. This week, the Jaguars draw a tough matchup in Denver, but that could actually be good news for the route technician. With reigning DPOY Pat Surtain II likely locking in on Thomas Jr., Meyers should see plenty of looks from Lawrence throughout this duel. Fire him up as a strong WR2 on Sunday.

Sit ‘Em: Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings) at New York Giants

Sigh.

It’s been unbearable watching Justin Jefferson attempt to catch passes from J.J. McCarthy. Genuinely upsetting.

What’s even more frustrating is that when targeting anyone else besides his generationally elite receiver, McCarthy has been dialed in. But when he looks at Jefferson, suddenly the redshirt rookie can’t figure out how to throw the football. McCarthy was 2/8 throwing to Jefferson in Sunday’s upset over the Cowboys, throwing a pick and recording a passer rating of 0.0. Of course, the one time they actually connected in the end zone, the Vikings were flagged for illegal formation.

Incredibly inaccurate and unnecessarily fast throws describe McCarthy’s efforts when targeting Jefferson as of late. It’s the superstar’s third straight outing in which he was held under five fantasy points, making him virtually unstartable in fantasy leagues until further notice.
