We’ve got a five game slate on our hands on this fine Monday evening, beginning with the Pistons visiting the Celtics at 7 PM EST and ending with the Grizzlies visiting the Clippers at 10:30 PM EST.
Anything surprising as we inch closer towards the New Year mark? The Detroit Pistons are on a roll with a 20-5 record in the East, which is a sight for sore eyes for Pistons fans who have struggled with mediocrity for the past decade. The Pacers sit near the bottom at just 6-20, a dumpster fire without star floor general Tyrese Haliburton.

This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for tonight’s slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my favorite plays for tonight’s action.
Jaylen Brown Less than 29.5 Points
Brown has stepped up in Tatum’s absence and is putting up a career-high 29.1 PPG in 24 games. He’d led the Celtics to a surprising 15-10 record, which is good enough for second in the East. This same record would put the Celtics at the seventh seed in the West.
While Brown is enjoying a productive season in the scoring department, it’s tough to envision him clearing this 29.5 mark tonight against the league’s third-best defense.
Jamal Murray Less Than 23.5 Points
Murray’s another player who’s running into a brick wall tonight. The Houston Rockets are second in defense and are sixth in limiting opponent threes per game, a department Murray has been lights-out in. He’s shooting 44.2% from three on 7.2 attempts per game, which definitely contributes to his career-high 24.4 PPG. Murray’s been an efficiency beast this season but could definitely have a tough night scoring the rock with Amen Thompson draped all over him.
Jalen Duren More Than 11.5 Rebounds
Duren is breaking out this season with 18.6 PPG and 11.3 RPG, averaging a double-double while shooting a gaudy 65.2% from the floor. Boston has been doing a poor job of limiting opponent rebounds this season, allowing opponents 54.2 rebounds per game, which ranks 19th in the NBA. I’m expecting Duren to take full advantage of their inability to stop opposing teams from commanding the glass. He’s becoming one of the best rebounders in the league and should continue collecting them tonight against this Celtics team.
