After a light week and only two games on Saturday, the NBA has eight games scheduled for Sunday. In one of the best evening matchups, the Hawks host the 76ers in a matchup of Eastern Conference playoff hopefuls. Each team has 14 wins this season, with the Sixers sitting fourth in the conference and the Hawks back in ninth. It’s a tightly crowded group in the standings, and both teams are looking to get stars healthy and make a push over the next few weeks. Each team has plenty of storylines and players who are fun to watch, so let’s take a look at my favorite player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook from Sunday’s matchup.
In the overall contest, the Hawks are 5.5-point home favorites, with the game total set at 224.5. The two teams met two weeks ago in Philly, and the Hawks won 142-134 in a double-overtime thriller. The Hawks have lost four of five since then, though, while the Sixers have won four of their last five.
Who will step up in this Eastern Conference rematch on Sunday night? Let’s dive into this entertaining matchup and check out some player prop bets to target.
76ers at Hawks Best Prop Bets on DraftKings Sportsbook
Jalen Johnson over 10.5 rebounds (-101)
Johnson has been absolutely sensational for the Hawks this season, leading the team effectively with Trae Young on the sidelines. Johnson has averaged 23.2 points, 10.5 rebounds and 8.0 assists in his 35.0 minutes per game, and he went off for 41 points, 14 rebounds, and seven assists in the Hawks double-overtime win against Philadelphia two weeks ago.
In this matchup, I’m targeting Johnson’s rebounds prop, which comes at just about even money even though he has gone over this prop line in six straight agmes and eight of his last 10. He had 11 rebounds in Friday’s loss to the Pistons, while logging 34 minutes, but he had been posting even bigger numbers while playing 38+ minutes in five straight games before that.
Since this should be another close, competitive contest, Johnson is set for another strong game. He has posted three straight triple-doubles and has logged four triple-doubles and two double-doubles over his last six outings.
Getting his rebound over at -101 is a great place to start your Sunday night betting card for this game.
VJ Edgecombe over 24.5 Points + Rebounds + Assists (-116)
The Hawks aren’t the only team in this matchup missing their star point guard, as Tyrese Maxey (illness) will also miss a second straight game. Kelly Oubre Jr. (knee) also remains out, and Joel Embiid (knee) is questionable. Since Embiid’s uncertainty makes the frontcourt tricky to predict, I like Edgecome’s PRA (points, rebounds, and assists) as my top Philly play from this matchup.
The rookie has been impressive with 14.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 4.0 assists for 24.3 PRA in his 21 games this season. Edgecombe’s production had dipped a little bit as the rotation got crowded after several players returned from injury, including Jared McCain, Quentin Grimes, and Paul George, who all missed time. Edgecombe himself played through a calf issue, which limited his minutes for several games as well. The lighter schedule seems to be helping him get past that injury at this point, though, playing 38 and 39 minutes in his last two contests.
However, with Maxey out on Friday, Edgecombe stepped back into a major role and played 39 minutes against the Pacers. He finished with 22 points, five assists and four rebounds, to go comfortably over this PRA mark. It was his first 20-point game since Nov. 19, but he does have double-digit points in eight of his last 10 contests.
He has over 24.5 PRA in five of those 10 games, and with the extra work due to Maxey’s absence, I think he should be set for an expanded workload and at least 25 PRA in Atlanta.
Zaccharie Risacher under 14.5 Points + Rebounds (-113)
After taking a couple of overs, let’s finish off with an under. Risacher has boom-or-bust potential, but the second year player has struggled to produce 15 points and rebounds or more on a regular basis this season. He’s averaging 11 points and 2.8 rebounds (13.8 points plus rebounds), but he has been under this prop line in six nine of his last 11.
Risacher was even under this prop line in the first meeting between these two teams, even though it went to double-overtime, and he played 30 minutes. He’s averaged only 22.3 minutes per game in his last three games, and his production has been underwhelming even though he’s always in the starting lineup.
Since he hasn’t been regularly able to get his game going from the outside or produce many rebounds, I think he’ll be under this prop line again on Sunday night.
Bonus Parlay Pick: Paul George over 9.5 Rebounds + Assists (-113)
If you’re looking for a fourth leg for your Same Game Parlay or SGPx, you can add in this Paul George prop. While his scoring has been streaky, he has at least nine rebounds and assists in three of his last four games, and adding this in can boost your parlay all the way to +1000, as you can see below:
SGP odds: +1100
