Last week’s loss to the Lions did serious damage to the Cowboys’ postseason dreams, but Jerry’s team has a favorable schedule down the stretch and it starts with a Vikings squad that has lost six of its last eight. In the immortal and overplayed words of Steve Perry, don’t stop believing, Dallas.
How will this journey to playoff contention begin? Like every NFL game does. With a touchdown.
Let’s sort through the first touchdown scorer odds on the DraftKings Sportsbook for this Sunday Night Football clash and make a couple picks.
Vikings at Cowboys First Touchdown Scorer Prop Bets

Jake Ferguson First Touchdown Scorer (+1000)
This season, 64.3% of the Cowboys’ touchdowns have come through the air. It’s hard to blame OC Klayton Adams for this preference, not when Dak Prescott (+2200) is your quarterback and you’ve got CeeDee Lamb (+800) and George Pickens (+800) lining up at wide receiver. Still, neither of those two men have been Dallas’ go-to weapon in the red zone. Instead, it’s Jake Ferguson, who not only leads the Cowboys with 20 targets inside the 20-yard line, but is one of only four men at the 20-target plateau, joining Davante Adams, Trey McBride and Christian McCaffrey. Pretty good company. You could certainly say that the 6’5 tight end’s high leverage stats are normalizing in 2025 after a 2024 campaign where Ferguson somehow failed to find the end zone — the only player with at least 80 total targets to not score a touchdown last season. We love a redemption story, don’t we?
Jordan Mason First Touchdown Scorer (+1300)
The fact that Jordan Mason has longer first touchdown odds than Aaron Jones (+1000) is nonsensical to me. Jones might have a slight edge in overall volume in this running back committee, but he simply does not get the high-leverage carries near the goal line. To wit, Mason’s seen 24 red zone rushing attempts to Jones’ five this season — with Mason’s 64.9% share of the Vikings’ carries inside the opponent’s 20-yard line ranking as the fifth-highest mark in the league. The raw results of these roles? Jones has found the end zone once since Week 1, while Mason leads Minnesota with six rushing touchdowns, the most recent coming last Sunday in a lopsided 31-0 victory over the Commanders. Maybe Mason won’t end up finding pay dirt first on Sunday evening, but at +195, he’s an amazing anytime touchdown scorer bet, especially against a Dallas defense that allowed four rushing TDs in Week 14.
