Week 15 of the NFL regular season has arrived, bringing a loaded slate of games on Sunday. In the early window, the Chicago Bears host the Cleveland Browns in a duel between high-profile quarterbacks who were collegiate superstars just a year or two ago. For Chicago and Caleb Williams, a possible playoff spot could be on the line. For Cleveland, the opportunity to play spoiler puts Shedeur Sanders in the spotlight coming off the best game of his young career.

Read on for a Browns vs. Bears prediction and pick on DraftKings Sportsbook for this Week 15 battle.

Browns vs. Bears prediction, preview

Cleveland Browns

The Browns lost a stinker to the Titans last week and remain just 3-10 on the campaign, but that’s arguably better for the franchise’s future than a win would’ve been. The story of the game was Shedeur Sanders’ 364-yard, three-touchdown performance which earned him the starting job for the remainder of the season (barring unforeseen changes). Whether he can repeat such a stat line will prove interesting against a pretty soft Bears defense, but the Browns have notably struggled to produce offense all year with 17.2 points (29th) and 269.8 yards per game (30th). A budding connection with rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. may help the outlook for Sanders and the unit he leads, but whether he can actually change things remains unknown. However, he may not have to put on a clinic to win since Cleveland’s defense allows just 272.8 yards per game (second-best), though the average of 23.2 points allowed (17th) doesn’t bode as well against a top-10 offense. The Browns will surely lean on the strength of the pass rush and Myles Garrett as he chases the sack record on a unit that ranks second in sack percentage, and their run defense also ranks 13th in yards per game allowed on the ground. That’s key against a Chicago attack that pounds the rock, but is it enough to squeak out a win?

Chicago Bears

The Bears fell to the Packers last week but remain 9-4 on the season thus far as they seek a playoff berth for the first time since 2020. The results of Ben Johnson’s first season at the helm are undeniable, but his team largely seems to squeak out close wins rather than dominating the competition. The good news is that the offense still sits among the NFL’s better units with 25.7 points (eighth-best) and 369.7 yards per game (fifth-best) with a top-five third-down conversion rate. Chicago has grown fond of establishing the run with the halfback duo of D’Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, averaging over 150 rushing yards per game on high-end efficiency of 4.9 YPC. The aerial attack, however, hasn’t found the same consistent success with Caleb Williams under center. The Bears rank 15th in passing yards per game as Williams completes just 57.8% of his throws, a significant drop from last season’s 62.5% mark. Plus, Rome Odunze is questionable to play with a foot injury. This team is basically the opposite of the Browns with a great offense but questionable defense that allows 25.8 points (25th) and 357.3 yards (27th) per game, not excelling against either the run or the pass. Rather than stopping its opponents, Chicago relies on a league-high 2.1 takeaways per outing to create additional scoring opportunities and swing games despite the shaky overall defense and 25th-ranked pass rush.

Browns vs. Bears pick, best bet

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Bears are -7.5 home favorites with -395 odds to win on the Moneyline. The Browns are listed at +310 to win outright with a game total of 38.5 points. As far as betting splits go, 84% of straight bets favor Chicago while 53% are on Cleveland to cover. On the total, 60% of the wagers favor the over.

On paper, the Bears should absolutely win this contest. However, they have a tendency to come out flat and Williams’ inconsistent play can create some problems depending on which version of him shows up. The Browns will know they can pressure him into making mistakes, especially with how prone the young quarterback has been in the past when trying to escape the pocket and instead taking excess sacks. Garrett should feast even against a quality offensive line, but the real questions are whether A) the Bears can still run the ball against this front seven, and B) whether Sanders can play at 75% of the level he displayed last week. The answer to the first question is likely yes since Swift and Monangai are a formidable halfback pairing with the offensive coaching to scheme running lanes open and standout defensive tackle Mason Graham is questionable for Cleveland, but the latter query feels more uncertain. He’s completed just 55.0% and 54.8% in two of his three outings, including this past week’s explosion. Questions about his accuracy may be real (which is surprising given that arm strength, not accuracy was the knock on his on-field draft profile), but of course, it’s still very early.

While Sanders is really the X-factor in this equation, I’m going to surprise myself here and take the Browns to cover for one reason. The Bears’ wins came by 17, one, one, 12, five, four, two, three, and nine points. You can do the math there, but they’ve spent most weeks locked in close games until the final minutes when a miracle typically occurs for them to secure the victory in the end. Against a standout defense with the best defensive player in the league coming off the edge, it’s tough to trust that Williams will play his best football to deliver a dominant win in front of the home crowd. I’m rolling with Cleveland +7.5 since the line is so long and trusting Sanders to show enough poise in the pocket to ride his defense to a competitive game… if not a shocking outright upset.

Best bet: CLE Browns +7.5 (-115)
