Oklahoma State Cowboys vs. Oklahoma Sooners College Basketball prediction, preview (Saturday 1pm ET)
The Cowboys enter this game with a perfect 9-0 record to start the season, but this is the game we find out if they’re for real. Oklahoma State has a pair of nice wins as an underdog against Texas A&M and Northwestern, but that was before the market caught up on the roster. The Cowboys are a talented team of transfers, and while they also have wins as short favorites over the likes of USF and Grand Canyon, they still need to prove themselves in big games.
One would think that OK State opening an underdog here as the 9-0 team to a 6-3 Sooners squad doesn’t look right, but OU is extremely battle-tested. Oklahoma’s key wins come over Marquette (as a short favorite) and Wake Forest (as a 4.5-point underdog), but it has also faced and lost to some very good teams.
The Sooners fell to elite competition in Gonzaga, a 10-0 Nebraska team, and then a road loss as six-point favorites to Arizona State. I like that OU is fresh off that bad loss to the Sun Devils, providing a strong motivational spot for a neutral floor game against an in-state rival. Oklahoma’s roster is led by extremely veteran talent in Nijel Pack, Tae Davis, Xzayvier Brown and Derrion Reid.
I like the top end talent, depth, size and coaching on Oklahoma’s side, and give the Sooners the edge on the neutral floor. Play on Oklahoma moneyline for me on Saturday afternoon.
