It’s been an injury-riddled season for Mike Evans, but he was activated from IR on Wednesday and will likely play under the lights of Thursday Night Football. Evans missed three games earlier in the season with a hamstring strain. After his return, he suffered a fractured collarbone in Week 7. As a result, Week 15 would be only his fifth appearance of the season.
Chris Godwin Jr. just returned from his respective injury at the end of November, so alongside Emeka Egbuka, Baker Mayfield might have his full complement of weapons at his disposal for the remainder of the season. Evans is officially listed as questionable for the contest.
In the three full games that Evans played in this season before getting hurt, he recorded at least four catches in every contest. Despite being out for a while, I expect him to be a huge part of this passing attack right from the jump. He’s been doing this a long time and likely doesn’t need too much time to ramp up to pick up where he left off. In those three games, he received 8, 11 and 8 targets. If Evans sees volume like that on Thursday, there’s no doubt that he will go over this total. Evans played 15 games last season, including the playoffs, and went over this number 10 times.
If he’s out there and fully healthy, he should be able to record at least four catches without breaking a sweat.
