After 23 years in WWE, the legendary career of John Cena is coming to an end. His last contest is taking place at Saturday Night’s Main Event: John Cena’s Final Match on December 13 in Washington, DC, at the Capital One Arena.
John Cena is facing the former World Heavyweight Champion, Gunther, in the last match of his illustrious career. Gunther beat LA Knight on the December 5 edition of Friday Night SmackDown to win the Last Time is Now tournament. Cena lost his previous match against Dominik Mysterio at Survivor Series: WarGames.
Three more matches are on this card, with two of them involving champions, as Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes takes on new NXT Champion Oba Femi. The WWE World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, defend their titles against NXT star Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater.

Saturday Night’s Main Event: John Cena’s Final Match Predictions and Full Card
Singles Match: John Cena vs. Gunther
John Cena didn’t just have an elite WWE career, but one of the greatest in the history of professional wrestling. Whether you have him on your wrestling Mount Rushmore, he will always be in the conversation. Many wrestlers don’t get to end their career with a last match, but Cena has an entire event built around him. That is a testament to how significant an impact he made. Becoming a Main Event talent is one thing, but having 23 years of sustained success is extremely hard to achieve, and very few in history have.
Cena has achieved everything there is in WWE. Here are his accomplishments: 17-time WWE Champion, five-time United States Champion, four-time Tag-Team Champion, one-time Intercontinental Champion, Money in the Bank winner, and two-time Royal Rumble winner. When a wrestler retires, typically, it has less meaning. Because most of the time, they have come back for another match. But when Cena has stated many times that he will never wrestle again after December 13, it feels different, and if anyone will stay true to their word, it is him.
John Cena has created a legacy that will be remembered forever. For 23-plus years, he embodied Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect and set a standard that will be hard to be topped.
At WrestleMania 41, Cena won his 17th championship, breaking his tie with Ric Flair. That moment was significant because that record could stand the test of time for a considerable period. There have been iconic superstars like Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock, who had excellent runs but didn’t have as long a career.
This will be the last time Cena points to Stu and runs down the ramp in his jean shorts to compete in a match. Even though it is his final match, Cena still has a tough opponent in front of him with former World Heavyweight Champion, The Ring General Gunther. Gunther beat Goldberg in his final match in July and is looking to do the same against Cena on Saturday.
This is Cena’s 18th televised WWE match in Washington, D.C. Cena teamed with Enzo Amore and Big Cass to take on The Club at Battleground in his last match in D.C. Cena is 4-2 in matches at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Although I didn’t love Gunther being his final opponent at first, The Ring General has done a tremendous job in a short amount of time to build up hype for this match. Yes, most legends retire after losing their last match, but Cena has earned and deserves to be the one to break that and go out with a victory.

Singles Match: Cody Rhodes (Undisputed WWE Champion) vs. Oba Femi (NXT Champion)
After Oba Femi beat Ricky Saints at Deadline to win his second NXT title, he now faces the Undisputed Champion, Cody Rhodes. The American Nightmare vs. The Ruler. This match has the potential to be one of the best of 2025. Femi has the power advantage, but Rhodes is the better all-around in-ring wrestler.
Rhodes has beaten Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns, and John Cena, but Femi creates problems he may not have encountered before. Even though Femi has competed in NXT, he has destroyed everyone in his path, doing so in a dominant way. Femi called out Rhodes in the latest episode of NXT with a promo. During this match, Femi could push Rhodes to his limit, but The American Nightmare will find a way to win as he always seems to do.
Cody Rhodes vs. Oba Femi Prediction: Cody Rhodes defeats Oba Femi.
Women’s Singles Match: Bayley vs. Sol Ruca
As is the case in Rhodes vs. Femi, this match also features a superstar from NXT and the main roster. Bayley is a 13-year WWE veteran and a four-time WWE Champion, while Ruca is a highly skilled, athletic NXT star. Ruca, 26, made her professional wrestling debut in 2022 after previously competing in gymnastics. Ruca is a former NXT Women’s North American Champion and has continued to excel each year with more experience. Bayley has already accomplished everything there is to achieve in WWE, and Ruca could benefit a ton from a victory over the former champion.
Bayley vs. Sol Ruca Prediction: Sol Ruca defeats Bayley.
World Tag Team Championship Match: AJ Styles & Dragon Lee (c) vs. Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater
The last match to be added to this card is a tag team match between the World Tag Team Champions, AJ Styles and Dragon Lee, against Je’Von Evans and TNA X-Division Champion Leon Slater. This is an excellent match and has a good chance of being the best on this card.
Evans and Slater have been opponents in the past, but have shown that they make an incredible team when they tag together. Evans and Slater are both 21 years old and are two of the greatest rising stars in wrestling, regardless of company. All four competitors in this match are excellent technical wrestlers and should combine for a fantastic showdown on Saturday.
Prediction: AJ Styles & Dragon Lee defeat Je’Von Evans & Leon Slater.
