MLB Free Agency Rumors: Kyle Schwarber re-signs with the Phillies

We finally have some news from the MLB Winter Meetings.

After spending the past four seasons in Philadelphia, Kyle Schwarber is headed back to the Phillies on a five-year, $150 million deal, per ESPN’s Jeff Passan.

Schwarber was one of the marquee free agents this winter on the heels of a massive 2025 season. The veteran DH appeared in all 162 games for the Phillies, setting new career-highs in home runs (56), runs (111), RBI (132) and wRC+ (152). Schwarber also finished in the 100th percentile in hard hit rate (59.6%) and the 99th percentile in expected slugging percentage (.572). It’s not all that hard to see why the 32-year-old finished second in NL MVP balloting to Shohei Ohtani.

Retaining Schwarber is a massive victory for a Philadelphia lineup that would’ve looked slightly underwhelming without the All-Star’s services. The question now becomes if catcher J.T. Realmuto will follow suit and return to the city of Brotherly Love.

On DraftKings Sportsbook, the Phillies are currently +1100 to win the 2026 World Series, trailing only the Dodgers (+370) and the Yankees (+750).
