DraftKings NBA Pick6 Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Top Picks for December 9

Published:

By: Bill Yin

Our gaming options are limited today with just a two game NBA Cup slate between the Heat and the Magic at 6 PM EST and the Knicks and the Raptors at 8:30 PM EST.

These two matchups are NBA Cup games, so they’re both Eastern Conference contests; the winners of tonight’s games will play each other in the next round.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the action this evening. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Basketball!

This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for tonight’s slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my favorite plays for tonight’s action.

Jalen Brunson Less than 28.5 Points

It feels a bit unnatural to presume that Brunson will fall short of 28.5 points tonight given he’s averaging 28 PPG exactly this season and tonight’s game is a high-stakes one, but Toronto presents a tough challenge. Of course, it’s always possible that Brunson can simply brute force his way into a high scoring total through sheer shot volume alone, but the Raptors rank 8th in defensive rating in the league this season. They were middle of the pack last season at 15th, but they’re almost fully healthy now and are the 4th seed in the East.

Brunson’s eclipsed the 30 point mark twice in his last five games. He’s also fallen under the 20 point mark twice in his last five games. I’m expecting the Raptors to place an emphasis on stopping Brunson from getting to his spots on the floor, and they’ll have to if they want to advance to the next round of the Cup.

Anthony Black More Than 14.5 Points

Due to an injury Franz Wagner sustained during the Magic’s last game against the Knicks, of which he only played seven minutes, Anthony Black will need to be the next man up. Fortunately for Orlando, Paolo Banchero is healthy and should be ready to go tonight, but Wagner’s absence frees up plenty of shots for Black, who’s averaging a career-high 13.2 PPG and a career-high 10.4 FGA. He’s quietly having a decent season off the bench for the Magic and has scored in double digits in four out of his last five games. Even though Miami is a tough defense, I’m expecting Black to garner enough offensive responsibility to crack this 14.5 mark.

Tyler Herro More Than 19.5 Points

Herro is probable for tonight’s game and given the discounted 19.5 mark, we have an easy decision. Herro has scored more than 20 points in each of his last five, and has averaged more than 20 PPG in five straight seasons. He’s looked good this season as well, given that he started much of it injured and on the sidelines. Herro is shooting a career-high 52.4% from the field and a blistering 48.4% from beyond the arc.
