Free agency dominates the winter months, but the MLB Draft lottery is another major event. Teams that suffered through the 2025 season are rewarded with a high draft pick in the 2026 draft in July.
The results are in, and it’s the White Sox who will select No. 1 in the 2026 draft. This is the third straight year that the White Sox will draft in the top 10 of the first round.
Chicago finished the regular season with a 60-102 record. It was the second worst record in the majors, only ahead of the Rockies. Colorado, however, was ineligible for a lottery pick due to the anti-tanking rules. Thus, Chicago had the best odds of landing the No. 1 pick.
