Keenan Allen and the Los Angeles Chargers will be looking to pick up another statement win against the defending champion Philadelphia Eagles on Monday Night Football. Both teams enter with an 8-4 record and firmly in the postseason picture, but are battling some current turmoil.
Justin Herbert suffered a broken bone in his non-throwing hand, which required surgery on Monday. Herbert is expected to battle through with a full workload, but this will be a storyline to monitor.

The six-time Pro Bowler has pulled in 60 receptions for 622 receiving yards and four touchdowns this season. The trust that Herbert has in Allen is clear, and he has not been shy to target the veteran at a high rate. Allen is averaging 51.8 receiving yards per game and has topped 40.5 receiving yards in eight of the 12 games.
The Eagles have a solid overall defense, but injuries have begun to take a toll. Jalen Carter is set to miss this week after undergoing a procedure on both shoulders, while key safety Andrew Mukuba went on injured reserve this week, joining key linebacker Azeez Ojulari, among others.
Overall, Philadelphia ranks ninth in points allowed, but 23rd in yards given up. They have allowed the second-fewest passing touchdowns, but rank 18th in passing yards allowed, and 12th in net yards per pass attempt.
It is fair to have concerns about the outlook for Herbert, given his injury issues. He deserves credit for even battling through it, but logistically, he may have more difficulties with hand-offs than pure throws, given that it is on his non-dominant hand. The Chargers would not roll their franchise quarterback out there without the belief that he can lead the team to victory.
Allen has seen at least five targets in every game this season, leading the team in targets per route run and erupting for a season-high 119 yards in Week 7 against the Colts. Count on him to remain a central figure of the Chargers’ attack and pull in over 40.5 yards for the ninth time this season.

One area of the field where Allen has proven especially important is in the red zone. The 33-year-old has been targeted 14 times in the red zone, which leads the Chargers and ranks 17th in the NFL.
