The Indianapolis Colts suffered a tough injury blow with Daniel Jones officially diagnosed with a torn Achilles. He will miss the remainder of the season, putting a halt to his strong year. Quarterback production will be an issue across the board with Anthony Richardson still on IR and Riley Leonard suffering a knee injury in relief.
This is an inopportune time for the Colts and fantasy football owners alike. Tyler Warren is right near the top of the list of players most impacted by this as he looks to finish off his impressive rookie season.
Tyler Warren Fantasy Football Outlook for Week 15 vs. Seahawks
The Colts selected Tyler Warren with the 14th overall pick in this year’s draft and have incorporated him into the offense at a rapid rate. The Penn State product has tallied 60 receptions for 699 receiving yards and four touchdowns. He has also added one rushing score.
From a fantasy football perspective, Warren is averaging 12.4 fantasy points per game based on DraftKings scoring. This ranks eighth among tight ends and is tied for 100th among all players. Warren felt the absence of Jones in the last matchup, producing a season-low two receptions for 15 yards and just 3.7 fantasy points.
But it is one thing to figure out the quarterback change mid-game, and another with a week of prep. Not having a clear, healthy quarterback is a concern, and this is worth monitoring throughout the week. However, Warren is one of the Colts’ top playmakers, and there will be concrete plans to ensure he remains involved in the offense. It feels unlikely, but it is at least worth noting that Warren lined up under center as a quarterback on occasions in college. He also has six rushing attempts on the season, taking on the Colts’ “tush-push” opportunities.
The Colts will face off with the Seahawks this week, who enter with a 10-3 record on the season. Seattle ranks second in points allowed, sixth in yards given up and second in net yards per rush and passing attempt. Tight ends have had some success against the Seahawks, pulling in an average of 6.8 receptions for 71.8 receiving yards. They have allowed five touchdowns to opposing tight ends this year.
Tyler Warren has had an overall stellar year, and the quarterback change is a tough situation. But reliable options at the tight end position are few and far between. Warren possesses a talent level far above most alternate options. Coach Shane Steichen will need to get creative in making some offensive changes, but Warren will surely be a part of this.
Expect a discount in the DFS price point and expectations should be tempered slightly this week. But ride with the guy that got you here, and count on Warren still being involved in the offensive attack for the Colts. Unless there is a clear better option available in your league’s waiver wires, bank on Warren’s talent level and importance to the offense providing enough of a floor for production for him to still pull his weight in your fantasy football lineups.
