DraftKings NBA Pick6 Fantasy Basketball Picks Today: Top Picks for December 8

Published:

By: Bill Yin

There are only three games on the slate tonight, starting off with the Kings and pacers, then the Suns and Timberwolves, and finally the Spurs visiting the Pelicans.

OKC continues to dominate the league with a 23-1 record, and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. They even gave SGA the night off against the Utah Jazz, a disrespectful rest game because they deemed Utah unworthy of Gilgeous-Alexander’s campaign stat-stuffing. The Pelicans still hold the worst record in the league with 3-21, while the Wizards match them in wins over in the East with 3-19.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved in the action this evening. One of the more unique features on DraftKings this year is Pick6 Fantasy Basketball!

This article will look at my top Pick6 plays for tonight’s slate. We simply choose whether a player will record more or less of the set statistic. Here are my favorite plays for tonight’s action.

Julius Randle More than 20.5 Points

Julius Randle has quietly been stringing together a very productive season for the Timberwolves, averaging 23 PPG, 7.3 RPG, and 5.9 APG while shooting 49.4% from the floor, 35.1% from three, and 83.5% from the line. He hasn’t always been a stellar model of efficiency, but the 15-8 Timberwolves have certainly benefitted from his play thus far.

Tonight I’m counting on Randle eclipsing 20.5 points against the Suns, who may be missing Dillon Brooks, their best defender. If Brooks plays, he’ll have to deal with Anthony Edwards, which should indicate that Randle could have a productive night regardless. The Suns are the 13th ranked defense in the league, so they’re above average, but Randle has turned in 20.5 points or more in three out of his last five games.

Bennedict Mathurin More Than 21.5 Points

Speaking of productive seasons, I believe Bennedict Mathurin is also putting together an impressive campaign with 21.2 PPG alongside a nasty 42.9% from beyond the arc. He’s been lighting it up for the injury-ravaged Pacers, who are in sore need of both offensive production and wins. Mathurin’s Pacers will host the visiting Sacramento Kings tonight.

Mathurin’s coming off a 28 point performance in a win against the Bulls in his last game, but has only eclipsed 21.5 once in his last five. Despite this, I’m still backing Mathurin to exceed this 21.5 total tonight due to the matchup against a weak Kings team that doesn’t offer much in the way of defense.

Zach LaVine More Than 24.5 Points + Rebounds

Lavine’s averaging exactly 24 PR, so it does feel like a coin flip whether he can exceed this 24.5 tonight. It feels even more unclear when you look at his two most recent games, with one being a 42 point explosion over the Miami Heat and the other being a two point dud against the Rockets. The latter was probably due to the game being a blowout, as LaVine attempted only five shots.

Given the porous Indiana defense as well as their fourth-last rating in opponent rebounds conceded per game, I’m confident in LaVine going for more than 24.5 PR tonight.
