UPDATE 1:07pm ET: Sometimes, if it looks like a duck, etc. And, based on initial speculation, many folks thought the non-contact bit of this injury could mean the dreaded Achilles tag.
And, indeed, that’s what’s happened. Daniel Jones, according to the Colts, is officially out for the game with an Achilles injury. Where Indianapolis goes from here may be one of the most compelling questions in the AFC playoff race going forward.
We’ll provide updates on the severity here today if we hear any more from Indianapolis.
Daniel Jones has left Sunday’s Week 14 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars due to what looked like a non-contact injury he suffered on his lower-right leg, which was, currently, his one healthy leg headed into this game. He’s headed to the Colts’ locker room.
Daniel Jones was working on putting together an efficient full-season for Indianapolis, completing 69.1% of his passes for 2,840 yards with 17 touchdowns and 7 interceptions coming into today. He already was gutting it out through a fractured fibula that had stripped away most of his designed-run usage and off-script explosiveness. Now, after suffering another apparent leg injury, the Colts’ playoff push falls to rookie backup Riley Leonard to steady the offense.
We’ll update more here as soon as we hear more from the ground in Seattle.
