No. 5-ranked flyweight contender Maycee Barber returns to the Octagon on Saturday night, taking on No. 9 Karine Silva at UFC 323 in Las Vegas.
Barber (14–2) has been sidelined since March 2024 by a series of serious medical issues, but is healthy heading into Saturday’s fight and riding the momentum from a six-fight winning streak. Silva (19–5) returned to the victory column in August after suffering her first UFC loss, which snapped an eight-fight professional win streak.

A Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist, “Killer” Silva is at her best when she marches forward with unyielding pressure and constant takedown attempts, suffocating opponents on the mat with brutal ground-and-pound and submission attempts. There’s a reason that 17 of her 19 wins have come by stoppage, comprising eight knockouts and nine submissions. She hasn’t been finished since 2017.

Although a submission win for Barber seems unlikely — it would be her first since 2018 — she still has all the necessary tools to come out on top in her return on Saturday night.
