Week 14 NFL Start or Sit: Michael Wilson

Week 14 NFL Start or Sit: Michael Wilson

The Cardinals have been struggling lately, dropping nine of their last 10 games since a 2-0 start to the season. In Week 14, they host the Rams in a tough divisional matchup in the later wave of games on Sunday. With Marvin Harrison Jr. (heel) ruled out, it should be a great spot for Michael Wilson to step back up and contribute.

Should he be in your fantasy football lineup for Week 14, as well? Let’s dive in and take a look at his fantasy football outlook for this week.

Marvin Harrison Jr. Ruled Out

Harrison suffered a heel injury last week in his return from a two-week absence due to a concussion. He wasn’t able to practice this week, and ultimately, he won’t be able to play this week.

In his 10 games this season, Harrison has 40 catches for 594 yards and four touchdowns, and he’ll look to return healthy in Week 15 for the fantasy football playoffs (in most leagues).

Michael Wilson’s Big Break (again)

Wilson has caught fire since Jacoby Brissett took over at QB for Kyler Murray (foot), who was ruled out for the rest of the season on Friday, as well.

Wilson has at least seven targets in each of his last four games, and really stepped up in the two games that Harrison missed with his concussion. He had 15 catches for 185 yards on 18 targets in Week 11 against the 49ers, and followed that with 10 catches for 118 yards on 15 targets against the Jaguars.

Even though he didn’t find the end zone in those two games, Wilson posted 36.5 and 24.8 fantasy points, respectively.

The Cardinals are also dealing with injuries in the backfield, forcing them to air it out early and often over their last few games. Brissett has attempted at least 40 passes in four straight games and is averaging 47.5 pass attempts in that same span.

With so many targets available, Wilson will be a great play in Week 14, even though he’s in a tough matchup against the Rams. Los Angeles will likely shut down the run and force the Cardinals to play from behind, forcing lots of passes and giving Wilson a high ceiling this week.

The Bottom Line

Michael Wilson is a WR2, with WR1 upside this week without Harrison, and a great FLEX play that should be started in just about all formats. He hasn’t found the end zone since Week 2, but has still been very impressive. If he finds pay dirt against the Rams, he could be one of the top receivers on the slate

For DFS contests like the NFL $2.5M Fantasy Football Millionaire [$1M to 1st], Wilson is one of the best value options at receiver with his salary of $5,600. He can be part of an affordable stack with Jacoby Brissett at $5,700, or he can be used as a standalone option, since he should be lined up for heavy volume and great PPR production in Week 14.
