NFL Pick ‘Em Pools
These pools are effortless to use and allow you to have action for the entire NFL season with just one entry fee. For the season-long pools, each week you will go back to the pool and pick five games on the slate against the spread. Each correct selection is worth one point. You will also be given one “skip week” during the season, where you don’t need to make picks if you don’t have a good feel for that slate. That way, even if you have one bad week, you are still in contention in the contest. You can also play the weekly pools, in which you pick every featured game against the spread.
Every week of the regular season, I will be giving out my five favorite selections along with my leans for every other game on the slate.
Week 14 Picks
Falcons +7.5 vs. Seahawks — The Falcons are coming off a tough loss to the Jets, while the Seahawks are coming off a blowout win, so this line is sitting over seven. Atlanta is 2-5 on the road this season, including last week’s loss to the Jets and a 30-0 beatdown by the Panthers. These home/road splits are even more severe with Kirk Cousins for the rest of the season, as his body may not hold up as well in cold outdoor weather anymore. Two weeks ago in Atlanta, Cousins played fine against the Saints, but he struggled in tough weather conditions against the Jets.
The Seahawks also have to travel across the country to get to Atlanta. Seattle’s last two trips across the country have both been a bit shaky. The franchise beat the Jaguars 20-12 and the Titans 30-24 on those trips. Seattle has been fantastic this season, but this number has gotten too high. Drake London could return this week, which would be a massive boost for the Falcons’ offense. The Falcons also have a good pass rush that can get after Sam Darnold and try to force mistakes out of him. This is the top of the market on the Seahawks and the bottom of the market on the Falcons, usually a good time to take the underdog.
Texans +3.5 @ Chiefs — The Texans are playing good football over the past few weeks, having won five of their past six games. They are now just one game behind the Colts and Jaguars in the AFC South, giving them a real chance to win three straight division titles. This is a tough game against the Chiefs, but they have a real chance to win outright. The Texans lead the NFL in defensive EPA/play and have already shut down some of the best quarterbacks in the league this season. The Texans gave up just 14 points to the Rams, 10 points to the Ravens, 15 points to the 49ers, 18 points to the Broncos, 19 points to the Bills and 16 points to the Colts last week. Those are six of the NFL’s best teams, all held under 20 points by the Houston defense.
With that level of defense, the Texans can win every game they play. C.J. Stroud also played solid football in his return from a concussion last week. He should be even better moving forward as he shakes off that rust. The Texans’ offense has come along over the past few weeks as the young weapons around Nico Collins have had time to develop. They rank 10th in the NFL in offensive EPA/dropback since Week 8. The Chiefs rank 22nd in the league in defensive dropback success rate, so the Texans should sustain drives through the air. With their fantastic defense paired with the improving passing offense, the Texans should keep this game within a field goal.
Packers -6.5 vs. Bears — This is one of the biggest games of the weekend, with the winner set to take over first place in the NFC North. The Packers have a minor rest advantage having played on Thanksgiving last week, while the Bears played on Black Friday. The Packers also have the essential home-field advantage that is so pivotal in these tough divisional games. Matt LaFleur’s teams always seem to get better as the season goes on. The Packers are 20-4 in the month of December under the head coach. LaFleur has also owned the Bears, sporting an 11-1 record against Chicago, with the one loss coming in Week 18 last season when the Packers benched their starters after the first couple of drives.
The Bears have been fantastic under Ben Johnson, but their shaky secondary has not been tested by an elite passing offense. Their current five-game win streak has come against the Bengals, Giants, Eagles, Steelers and Vikings. None of those teams rank inside the top 10 in offensive EPA/dropback. The Packers just so happen to lead the NFL in that stat. Jordan Love should put real strain on the Chicago secondary. Meanwhile, Micah Parsons and the great Packers defense should get after Caleb Williams. The Packers should continue their dominance of the Bears and win this one by at least a touchdown.
Colts -1.5 @ Jaguars — The Colts and Jaguars are also playing a game with the division lead on the line. Indianapolis and Jacksonville are tied atop the AFC South after last week. The Colts were one of the best teams in the league through the first few weeks but have lost three of their past four games. This is still one of the best offenses in the league, ranking second in EPA/play and first in EPA/rush. They should take it to the Jaguars, who have struggled against elite offenses. They gave up 31 points to the Bengals, 28 points to the Chiefs, 35 points to the Rams and even 36 points to the Davis Mills-led Texans. This defense can be exploited and Shane Steichen should have a good game plan on how to do so.
The Jaguars also want to run the ball, but the Colts rank tenth in defensive EPA/rush. They should limit the Jacksonville rushing attack and force Trevor Lawrence to be a passer. If both teams try to take away the run, the Colts have a big advantage at quarterback. Daniel Jones has been great this season, ranking seventh among qualified quarterbacks in EPA+CPOE composite, while Trevor Lawrence ranks 28th, just ahead of Geno Smith. In this massive divisional battle, the Colts have the better team on both sides of the ball and should squeak out the win.
Bengals +6.5 @ Bills — The Bengals looked like a brand new team with Joe Burrow back on the field last week. They dominated the Ravens 32-14 on the road in Baltimore. Burrow was feeding Ja’Marr Chase, and the Ravens ran the ball efficiently as well. The defense also played arguably its best game of the season, giving Lamar Jackson fits. They now face a Bills offense that has been inconsistent all season. In five of their past eight games, the Bills’ offense has scored 20 points or fewer, including in losses to the Falcons and Dolphins.
If the Cincinnati defense comes to play again, the offense should move the ball and keep this game close. Joe Burrow is 2-0 in his career against Josh Allen. Cincinnati also has a big rest advantage after playing on Thanksgiving last week. The Bengals should keep this game under a touchdown and keep the momentum rolling after Burrow’s return.
