The NHL returns with a five-game slate on Wednesday night, with first puck drop at 7:00 p.m. ET. The Canadiens, Stars and Capitals all played last night and will be the only teams operating on zero days’ rest.
Here are my top three NHL player prop bets on DraftKings Sportsbook for Wednesday, December 3.
Best NHL props for Wednesday 12/3/25
Jamie Benn 1+ Point (+130)
The 36-year-old made his season debut on Nov. 18 and has posted six points across his first eight outings. Benn has cleared this line in five of eight games, while sharing first-line minutes with Wyatt Johnston and Mikko Rantanen, as well as being a part of the second power play unit. He has particularly been stellar at 5v5, ranking third in the NHL in both 5v5 goals per 60 and 5v5 points per 60. The Stars may be fatigued after losing in overtime last night to the Rangers, but they draw a matchup against Jacob Markstrom, who has been inconsistent. Markstrom is 7-4-1 with a 3.60 GAA and .874 SV%, and he ranks 66 out of 79 eligible goaltenders in goals saved above expected.
Zach Benson 1+ Assist (+195)
It is tough to trust the Sabres on the road, but it is also tough to fade Buffalo’s first line, now comprised of Benson, Josh Norris and Tage Thompson. This line produced six total points in Monday’s 5-1 win over the Jets, with Benson recording two assists. The 20-year-old has missed 13 games already this season, but he still ranks third on the team in assists. In fact, all 11 of his points are assists, and it makes sense considering he ranks sixth in the NHL in assists per 60. The Flyers have allowed the 12th-fewest goals per 60, but Samuel Ersson is not the reason for it. Ersson sports a 3.09 GAA and .859 SV% across eight starts, and he ranks 68th in goals saved above expected.
Cutter Gauthier Anytime Goalscorer (+145)
Gauthier has cooled down after netting 11 of his 15 goals across the first 13 games of the season, but he has netted three goals in the past five games. Tonight, he gets to face a Utah squad that is 2-5-3 across its last 10 games, while allowing 3.1 goals per game. The Mammoth also enter Wednesday’s tilt on their fourth game of a six-game road trip. Gauthier ranks ninth in the NHL in 5v5 goals per 60, and Utah has allowed the ninth-most 5v5 goals per 60. The 21-year-old failed to score in his most recent matchup against the Mammoth, but Utah’s goaltending has fallen off a cliff lately. He ranks first in shots per 60 and second in shot attempts per 60, and should see plenty of high-quality scoring chances.
