An awesome Thanksgiving weekend of NFL football wrapped up with the 10-game main slate from Week 13 on DraftKings. After plenty of drama with some great games coming down to the wire throughout the afternoon, it was an entry from bmozley24 that climbed to the top of the NFL $2.5M FANTASY FOOTBALL MILLIONAIRE [$1M TO 1ST].
The entry had a unique construction from the 147,058 entries in the Milly Maker and finished with 205.44 fantasy points. It was a lower scoring week overall with only two entries getting more than 200 fantasy points, but bmozley24 navigated the tricky slate expertly, going with just the right chalky plays and a couple of contrarian options to put the entry over the top.
Here’s a look at the highest-scoring entry from the Week 13 millionaire contest:
Texans two-step in Indy
In the early window, bmozley24 includes a mini-stack of Texans by playing Nico Collins (21.5 FPTS) and Dalton Schultz (12.5 FPTS) in Houston’s road matchup against the Colts. They were the only teammates in the entry that included picks from a wide variety of teams and matchups.
With C.J. Stroud (10 FPTS) back from his concussion, the Texans won their fourth straight game. Schultz continued to be a consistent PPR contributor with seven catches for 55 yards.
Collins came up just short of the receiving bonus with five catches for 98 yards, but he did deliver a touchdown on his one carry for seven rushing yards.
Collins was the No. 4 wide receiver on the main slate, while Schultz finished as the No. 5 tight end. The winning entry also included the top option at both positions, which we’ll get to later in this recap.
Brissett, Bijan and Brock Bowers bring it
While bmozley24 got a boost from Stroud’s return, the entry went with a different QB option, rolling with Jacoby Brissett (23.64 FPTS) as a bargain play.
Brissett delivered another strong game while filling in for Kyler Murray (foot) and threw for 301 passing yards and two touchdowns in a close loss to the Bucs.
Going with a less expensive QB allowed the entry to include Bijan Robinson (33.3 FPTS) at running back, who had a dominant game against the Jets. Robinson did get a touchdown vultured from him but still finished with 142 rushing yards, five catches, 51 receiving yards, and this rushing score:
Raiders tight end Brock Bowers (22.3 FPTS) was another high-priced contributor who had a strong showing for bmozley24. Bowers only got four targets in the Raiders loss to the Chargers, but he turned in one of the best catches of the year on one of those targets, finishing with four catches for 63 yards and two touchdowns:
Adonai Mitchell and Tetairoa McMillan provide leverage
All the other players in the winning entry were owned in at least 10% of entries aside from two receivers who both stepped up for bmozley24. Jets’ receiver Adonai Mitchell was the top wide receiver of the entire slate from his bargain salary of $3,600 with just 7.7% ownership.
Mitchell finished the day with eight catches for 102 yards and this touchdown as the Jets rallied to beat the Falcons.
Tetairoa McMillan (11.3 FPTS) had a pretty quiet day, but he made his one catch really pay off both for his fantasy teams and for his NFL team, as his touchdown turned out to be the game-winner over the Rams.
Vidal late contributions
In the later window, the top entry got another monster game from running back Kimani Vidal (23.7 FPTS), who continued to fill in successfully for Omarion Hampton (ankle). Even with Hampton nearing a return, Vidal kept grinding and posted 126 rushing yards, 11 receiving yards and this touchdown as the Chargers beat the Raiders.
Vikings go Scoreless in Seattle
In a low-scoring week, it makes sense that there were several defenses that had huge games. The Seahawks DST (30 FPTS) had double the total of the next best defense, as they totally dominated the visiting Vikings.
The Seahawks didn’t allow a point to Minnesota and racked up four sacks, four interceptions, a fumble recovery and a defensive touchdown.
The Bottom Line
The huge week from Seattle’s defense and strong contributions from value plays like Adonai Mitchell, Kimani Vidal, and Jacoby Brissett were enough to get bmozley24 the win this week. The entry avoided many of the pay-up pitfalls but selected high-priced players who delivered in Bijan Robinson and Brock Bowers.
