It’s a showdown in the snow between the Cleveland Browns and the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday. Two hard-nosed defenses are matching up with two strong running games. You couldn’t ask for better personnel to have a snow game in.
The 49ers enter as 4.5-point road favorites on DraftKings Sportsbook, while the Browns are listed as +195 underdogs. The game’s total is set at 35.5 points. Here is my preview, pick and prediction for Sunday’s Week 13 matchup between the Browns and 49ers.
Browns vs. 49ers Preview
The stories about Cleveland all surround Shedeur Sanders. With its playoff hopes squashed, it’s turning to the Colorado product to inspire some hope. He did just enough to deliver the win in his first start against the Raiders, and will hope for a repeat performance against the Niners.
He’s facing a Niners team that is trying to rally for a playoff run. At 8-4, they’re in the thick of the NFC Wild Card race while having a chance at capturing the division. Getting Brock Purdy back in the lineup has been crucial, and they survived him shaking off the rust against the Panthers.
But it’s not about the quarterbacks on Sunday. Temperatures will be near freezing while the snow pours in. It’s on the running backs to produce in a battle of the trenches. So, who will prevail in the snow bowl?
Browns vs. 49ers Prediction, Pick
A few things are working in Cleveland’s favor. One, it has Quinshon Judkins, a great back to place the offensive burden on. Two, Sanders presents a decent enough running threat to open up the playbook. And third, this 49ers offense is not suited for the cold. Christian McCaffrey has not been the explosive back we’re used to, and Purdy has historically struggled in the snow. It’s enough reason to think the Browns can cover this meager spread in what should be a low-scoring affair.
