Nikola Jokic headlines the Denver Nuggets’ injury report for tonight’s matchup with the Phoenix Suns. The three-time MVP is listed as questionable with a wrist injury.
In addition, Aaron Gordon, Julian Strawther and Christian Braun remain sidelined.
Jokic is at the epicenter of everything the Nuggets do and is in the midst of another stellar season. Through his first 18 games, he is averaging 29.1 points and leading the league with 12.6 rebounds and 11.0 assists per game.
The Nuggets’ star has battled through this wrist injury for a few weeks. He has not missed a game yet this year, but he has landed on the injury report with the issue on several occasions. Jokic played in Denver’s 139-136 loss last night to the Spurs and finished with 21 points, 10 assists and nine rebounds. He has taken just nine and 10 field-goal attempts across his past two games despite averaging 16.9 field-goal attempts on the season.
Denver will be facing off with the Phoenix Suns tonight, who quietly are 11-4 over their last 15 games. With the Nuggets’ long-term goals in mind, keep an eye on the injury report on if this will be Jokic’s first missed game of the season.
If he is to miss, expect an expanded role from Jonas Valanciunas, who is averaging 8.1 points and 4.7 rebounds in just 12.5 minutes per game. Denver will also be forced to lean on more of a guard-oriented attack with Jamal Murray sure to see an uptick in shot volume.
Looking at the odds for tonight, the Nuggets enter as 2.5-point road favorites and hold -142 moneyline odds on DraftKings Sportsbook. The Suns hold +120 odds of pulling off the outright upset, with the game total set at 230.5 points.
