Germie Bernard has been spectacular for Alabama all season. Bernard was with Kalen DeBoer and Ryan Grubb dating back to their days at Washington. Last season, Bernard had a great first impression with Alabama, but was overshadowed by freshman phenom Ryan Williams. While Williams is still a great weapon, Bernard has been Ty Simpson’s top target this season. He leads the Crimson Tide in every major receiving category. Alabama is now just one win away from the College Football Playoff and a trip to the SEC Championship Game. Only their arch-rivals, Auburn, stand in the way. This game is a chance for Bernard to put on one more great regular-season performance before the postseason.
Auburn has one of the best run defenses in college football. The Tigers’ defense ranks seventh in EPA/play and second nationally in success rate. Against the pass, they are much more attackable, ranking 90th in defensive dropback success rate. Alabama is already one of the most pass-heavy teams in the SEC, and that should be even more the case against this defense. Germie Bernard has at least 70 receiving yards in each of his past two games and should hit that number against Auburn, as well.
