Arsenal beat Tottenham 4-1 on Sunday and then beat Bayern Munich 3-1 on Wednesday. Chelsea beat Burnley 2-0 on Saturday and Barcelona 3-0 on Tuesday. Both sides have come back from the international break in fine form, and now they face off in a game that will have huge implications on the title race.
Despite Chelsea’s great performance at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night, I am taking the Gunners in this one. Their performance against Bayern Munich might have been even better, dominating a side that was perfect in the Champions League and that is running away with the Bundesliga.
The Gunners also have a great recent record against Chelsea. They have won three of the last five Premier League matches, with two draws mixed in between. In fact, you have to go back to 2018 to find the last time that the Gunners lost a Premier League game away to Chelsea. Since then, they have won three times and drawn three times at the Bridge.
You could argue this is the best Arsenal team in the last 20 years at the moment, as they are clear at the top of the Premier League table and the Champions League table.
Chelsea are off to a great start this season, but it hasn’t been due to their home form. The Blues have actually collected 13 of their 23 points away from home in six games, while only gaining 10 in their six home games. Arsenal have been excellent both home and away, but on the road, they have won four out of six times.
Between recent form and their recent results at Stamford Bridge, the Gunners have the advantage in this one and arguably look like the best team in Europe right now.
