Jordan–Hare gets another Alabama season placed on its table. Alabama arrives 9-2, playing for 10 wins and playoff oxygen. Auburn drags 5-6 into the night, desperate just to steal a bowl berth and a year of peace. The spread sits inside a touchdown because everyone remembers Kick Six and fourth-and-31. This time the matchup leans more clinical than chaotic. Below is my prediction for CFB Week 14’s football game between the Auburn Tigers and the Alabama Crimson Tide.
Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.
Auburn vs. Alabama prediction, preview
Alabama’s edge lives in how it throws into Auburn’s defensive soft spot. The Tide average about 33.8 points and 416 yards per game on roughly six yards per snap, with 3,217 through the air. Ty Simpson has 2,934 passing yards and 22 touchdowns, and this offense is far more willing to let him drive than older Bama versions. Germie Bernard sits at 676 receiving yards with six scores, the primary vertical stressor in an attack that wants chunk plays, not grind-ball. Auburn’s front is legitimately stout against the run with a near 29% stuff rate, but the secondary sits in the bottom quarter nationally in both PPA and explosiveness allowed against the pass. If Auburn’s best trait erases Alabama’s least efficient phase, Simpson and Bernard get to hunt the Tigers exactly where they are weakest.
On the other side, Auburn’s identity leans into Jeremiah Cobb and a revived run game. The Tigers average 27.4 points and 371 yards per game, with only about 192 through the air and 179 on the ground. Cobb’s 5.7 yards per carry gives them real juice on inside zone and counter after the midseason quarterback switch simplified the offense. Alabama’s defense has answered more serious questions all year, holding opponents to 16.2 points and 270.5 yards per game on 4.78 yards per play. Even with softer road splits, that front still forces long fields and third-and-7, and Auburn does not have a proven high-volume passing answer when the run game hits resistance.
Alabama vs. Auburn pick, best bet
Schedule context widens the gap behind the logo shine. Alabama sits on a scoring margin around +17.6, while Auburn lives closer to +7.3 and has done most of its scoring damage outside the SEC’s top tiers. The Tigers are winless against the strongest quadrants on their slate, losing every step up in class despite the respectable 20.1 points allowed per game. Alabama has lived in that upper tier, still posting comfortable differentials even when the offense sputters for a quarter. Both teams bring urgency—Auburn for a bowl, Alabama for New Year’s and maybe more—but one has to lean on its strength into the opponent’s strength, and the other gets to attack mismatch territory downfield.
The script that pays this number does not require a flawless Alabama showing. Auburn’s front can stone early inside runs, but Bama will keep sliding protection, using play-action and formation into boundary to isolate Bernard and the other receivers on a secondary that has given up explosives all year. Once Auburn safeties widen or fatigue, Daniel Hill’s bruising downhill style becomes a clock weapon, not a lifeline. Auburn will land shots with Cobb and an occasional deep ball off boot, yet long fields and third-and-long throw them back into Alabama’s hands over four quarters.
The best bet, I think, should follow the matchup more than the ghosts in the building. Alabama owns the cleaner per-play profile, the passing game that stresses Auburn’s defensive flaw, and the defense trusted to squeeze a one-dimensional offense late. The pick is Alabama -5.5, expecting the Tide to survive the Jordan–Hare chaos and pull clear.
Projected score: Alabama 31, Auburn 23.
Best bet: Alabama -5.5 (-110) at Auburn
