It’s time to run it back — this time, in the champ’s backyard.
UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will rematch No. 2 Diego Lopes in the main event of UFC 325 on January 31 in Sydney, Australia, Dana White announced on Thursday evening.
The fighters first clashed for Ilia Topuria’s vacant belt at UFC 314 in April, where Volkanovski rebounded from back-to-back knockouts — from Islam Makhachev and Topuria — to reclaim his featherweight crown in storybook fashion with a dominant unanimous decision victory.
Volkanovski (27-4, 13 KO, 3 SUB) is arguably the greatest featherweight of all time, sweeping his trilogy with future Hall of Famer Max Holloway and boasting five title defenses. Lopes (27-7, 11 KO, 12 SUB) is one of the UFC’s most exciting rising stars, recently bouncing back from his title loss with a vicious second-round TKO against Jean Silva in September.
Alexander “The Great” opens as a -155 favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook, while Lopes sits as a +130 underdog.
