The Green Bay Packers’ offense goes as far as Josh Jacobs can take them. The good news for them is that he tends to take them pretty far. In their most important game of the season against their NFC North rivals, the Detroit Lions, they’ll need Jacobs more than ever. And his player prop market adds a lot of intrigue.
The Lions are 2.5-point favorites for today’s marquee matchup at DraftKings Sportsbook, with the game total set to 48.5 points. Below, I’ve detailed my favorite prop bet centered around Josh Jacobs.
Best Josh Jacobs Prop Bet on DraftKings Sportsbook
Josh Jacobs Under 59.5 Rushing Yards (-114)
Facing one of the best run defenses in the NFL is no easy task for any running back. Detroit is allowing only 3.9 yards per carry on the season, the sixth-best mark in the NFL. With a stout interior and rangy linebackers, it’s a great formula for containing Jacobs.
But that won’t deter Green Bay. They’re going to lean on Jacobs to hell and high water. However, his production has fizzled in recent weeks as he’s fought through a knee injury, which cost him a game against the Vikings. Across his first five starts, Jacobs received no less than 16 carries; in the last five weeks, he’s been under that mark three times.
It leaves us wondering what his workload will be on Thanksgiving. He’s been fully cleared from his injury, but there could be a level of caution exercised here. Perhaps backup running back Emanuel Wilson receives a few more touches than usual if they try not to over-exert Jacobs.
The combination of Jacobs’ injury concerns and Detroit’s dominant run defense dampens his outlook considerably. A lot of people will be feasting on Thursday; Jacobs won’t be one of them. It’s a rare spot to fade Green Bay’s star lead back.
