Thanksgiving means turkey, pie, stuffing, and Detroit Lions football. It’s a massive game for quarterback Jared Goff and his team as they look to leapfrog the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North race. The prop bet market is jam-packed with interesting lines, Goff’s included.

It took this Lions offense a while to find their groove. Jared Goff was efficient over the first eight weeks of the season, completing 73.8% of his passes, but he didn’t push the ball downfield often. The departure of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was more impactful than expected. But now that head coach Dan Campbell has taken over play-calling duties, things have changed.
With Campbell at the play-calling helm against the Washington Commanders, Goff completed 25-of-33 passes for 320 yards and three touchdowns. He followed that up by going 14-for-37 against the Eagles, an ugly performance that only netted him 255 passing yards. But he righted the ship against the Giants, going 28-for-42 for 279 yards and a pair of touchdowns. It’s a drastic improvement from the beginning of the season.
In those first eight weeks, Goff averaged 30 pass attempts per game. He’s up to more than 37 attempts per game since Campbell took charge. They’re cutting it loose in the passing game, and when facing a formidable Green Bay rush defense, they’ll likely have to do the same on Thanksgiving.
It may not be the prettiest game in terms of efficiency, and some errant throws are expected — but you can count on Jared Goff to put on an air show in Detroit on Thursday afternoon.
