NFL Pick ‘Em Pools
These pools are effortless to use and allow you to have action for the entire NFL season with just one entry fee. For the season-long pools, each week you will go back to the pool and pick five games on the slate against the spread. Each correct selection is worth one point. You will also be given one “skip week” during the season, where you don’t need to make picks if you don’t have a good feel for that slate. Week 13 Picks
Jets +2.5 vs. Falcons — The Jets have been playing decent football over the past month. They beat the Browns and Bengals, and put up solid fights against two of the NFL’s top teams, the Ravens and Patriots. Tyrod Taylor is a clear upgrade at quarterback over Justin Fields, and the Jets’ offense should have some success in this game. With a real passing game, Breece Hall has more freedom to create plays in the running game as well.
However, it’s the Jets’ defense that should thrive in this game. The Jets rank fifth in the NFL in defensive rushing success rate and should contain Bijan Robinson. With Drake London out another week, the Jets won’t be missing Sauce Gardner as much on the back end either. The Jets should get after Kirk Cousins and force mistakes out of the veteran, who should struggle in the cold outdoor weather in New Jersey.
Vikings +10.5 @ Seahawks — This matchup suits the Vikings well. Brian Flores is one of the NFL’s best defensive coaches, and his unit is very disciplined. They rank third in the NFL in pass block win rate, meaning they should be able to get pressure on Sam Darnold. As good as Darnold has been, the Rams proved he is still mistake-prone when under immense pressure. The Vikings also rank third in the NFL in 20+ yard pass plays allowed. Jaxon Smith-Njigba has tormented almost every defense he has faced this season, but the Vikings should be able to stop him from breaking those catches for huge plays. Brian Flores and his defense also saw Sam Darnold every day in practice last season, so he should have a great plan to bait Darnold into mistakes.
On offense, Max Brosmer is getting his first career start in this game. Going on the road against a good Seattle defense is tough for his first start, but Brosmer is comfortable in cold weather in front of hostile road crowds as a former Minnesota quarterback. Brosmer can’t possibly be worse than J.J. McCarthy and is likely even an upgrade over Carson Wentz based on what he showed in the preseason. There is also no NFL tape on Brosmer, so it will be hard for the Seahawks to game-plan for certain wrinkles the offense may have. If Brosmer plays well, it could be the spark the whole team needed to raise their level.
Steelers +3.5 vs. Bills — The Bills are nowhere near their best at the moment. They have injuries that they’re dealing with on both sides of the ball, and the passing game is broken. The Steelers should be able to get pressure on Josh Allen, just like the Texans did last week. Allen was very frustrated by the end of that game due to the lack of time he had to make plays. Buffalo’s best offense is Allen rolling out and making plays on his own. The Steelers are well schooled on defense and should keep him in the pocket.
This should be a great home crowd for Pittsburgh, and the team should be up for this game. No matter who is playing quarterback for Pittsburgh, the Buffalo defense is vulnerable on the ground. The Bills rank 31st in defensive EPA/rush. Pittsburgh should move it on the ground and keep the ball out of Josh Allen’s hands. This game should come down to the wire, giving the Steelers a great chance to cover and even get the win.
Colts -4.5 vs. Texans — The Colts need a big win after dropping a tough one to the Chiefs last week. This is a good spot to get it at home against a division rival. C.J. Stroud is making his return for Houston, but there could be some serious rust there after missing so much time. Houston struggles to run the ball, and most of its offense runs through Nico Collins. The Colts now have the benefit of having Sauce Gardner to lock down Collins. If Gardner takes Collins away and makes Stroud force it elsewhere, Houston should struggle to score in this game. Jonathan Taylor and the rushing attack should eventually wear down the tough Houston defense, getting their team the win and the cover.
Buccaneers -2.5 vs. Cardinals — This is a battle of two of the most experienced backup quarterbacks in the NFL. Teddy Bridgewater is likely to make his first start of the season, while Jacoby Brissett starts another week for the Cardinals. Brissett has played well in Kyler Murray’s place, but the Arizona offense has not been as good the last couple of weeks. Tampa Bay has one of the best run defenses in the NFL and should take away an already struggling Cardinals rushing attack with ease. That allows them to drop back in coverage and make life hard for Brissett.
Teddy Bridgewater was put into a tough spot last week, needing to force it to make a comeback against the Rams’ elite defense. In this game, the Buccaneers should have some good balance in their offense with Bucky Irving making his return at long last. Between Irving and Sean Tucker, Tampa Bay should be able to run the ball. That will allow Teddy Bridgewater to distribute the ball without ever being under too much pressure. The Buccaneers are the better team and should cover this short spread at home despite the loss of Baker Mayfield.
