UNLV Runnin’ Rebels vs. Maryland Terrapins prediction, pick for NCAAM on Monday 11/24/25

Vegas gets a throwback tonight. Maryland flies in with a new coach, a Sweet 16 pedigree, and a schedule that does not let up. UNLV stays home on the Strip with a brand-new roster, a new voice, and two straight demolition jobs fueling the building. Both know Gonzaga and Alabama are waiting tomorrow, which just tightens every possession. This feels less like a buy game and more like a program check under bright desert lights. Below is my preview, prediction, and pick for tonight’s college basketball game between the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels and the Maryland Terrapins.

Here’s how I’ll play it. I’ll be pumping out these predictions for individual games all season, with plenty of coverage here on DraftKings Network. Follow my handle @dansby_edits for more betting plays.

UNLV vs. Maryland prediction, preview

Maryland’s shape is clear. They’re scoring 82.2 points and allowing 73.4, shooting 42.9% from the field and 33.1% from deep. The real weapon is the whistle: they’re hitting 26.6 free throws a night at 81.6%, almost double what opponents manage. David Coit is the ignition, sitting at 18.4 points with over half his threes falling and a 41-piece on Mount St. Mary’s already in the books. Pharrel Payne, when right, gives them an interior scorer at 18.3 and 6.3 on 71% shooting. Darius Adams and Andre Mills both live in double figures, with Adams piling free throws and Saunders stretching the floor. The cracks show underneath. Opponents shoot 35.5% from three, the Terps barely break even on the glass, and that Mount St. Mary’s game turned into a 95–90 overtime track meet where the frontcourt looked thin and overtaxed without Payne for long stretches.

UNLV answers with volume, violence on the glass, and depth. The Rebels are putting up 93.2 points and giving up 84, shooting 49.5% overall. They haven’t even shot it well from deep yet at 28.3%, which tells you how many clean paint looks and second chances they generate. They grab 41.2 rebounds a night while opponents sit at 32.0, with 14.6 offensive boards baked into that number. Six players sit in double figures. Issac Williamson and Dravyn Gibbs-Lawhorn both live in the mid-teens as on-ball scorers. Kimani Hamilton and Tyrin Jones finish everything at the rim, with Jones over 70% from the field and erasing shots on the back line. Howie Fleming Jr. is the glue, giving them scoring, glass, and table-setting. The last two outings weren’t fluff: a 92–78 win at Memphis, then 99–85 on Saint Joseph’s, both with balanced scoring and the same rebounding edge showing up.

Maryland vs. UNLV pick, best bet

Coit might be the most dangerous scorer on the floor. Payne’s return changes their defensive ceiling and their rebounding floor. Buzz Williams has a long history of dragging rosters into winning ugly in November pods, and the free-throw math is real: if this whistle breaks Maryland’s way, you can absolutely draw a night where the Terps take fifteen more freebies and walk off with a double-digit cover. UNLV’s defense is hardly airtight, allowing 45.5% shooting and plenty of parades to the line. If Coit catches rhythm, Payne stays on the floor, and Buzz keeps this in the half court, the Maryland -1.5 story is coherent.

I still want to step in front of it. Over 40 Vegas minutes, UNLV’s edges feel more structural than Maryland’s. The Rebels don’t need a friendly whistle; they manufacture extra possessions through that plus-nine rebounding profile, especially on the offensive glass. Their scoring is spread across six players, which insulates them if one guard goes cold. Maryland, by contrast, is leaning hard on one nuclear guard and a free-throw margin that gets harder to sustain against a deep, attacking home roster. The scheduling spot tilts the same way. UNLV is sleeping in its own beds. Maryland just played overtime at home, then flew west into a three-games-in-three-days sprint with Gonzaga tomorrow. Coit already emptied the tank once this week. Asking him to control another shootout in this building, against this glass and this depth, feels like wishful thinking.

So I’m going full-tilt. My numbers land closer to UNLV as a small favorite than a home dog. If this behaves like the high-possession game the market implies, I expect the Rebels’ extra shots and second-chance points to outweigh Maryland’s trips to the stripe. I’m treating the spread as noise and planting the flag on the moneyline.

Give me UNLV on the ML, with the Rebels winning right around 88–84.

Best bet: UNLV (+115) vs. Maryland
